A snippet from a walk in Lefkara - a village in rural Cyprus that lives off traditional craft and tourism.

@PickledNorthern - morning mate - I was contemplating another 'Short Walk in the Himalayas' thread - if there is any interest I could stitch it together. As a taster - this is me at the top of the Khardung La pass - in Ladakh - not far off 19,000 feet. Way up in the sky. Way - way up in the sky. Because of the altitude it was incredibly hard to breathe. I can only imagine this is what it is like to be asthmatic - your lungs are pumping but you are not getting the oxygen into your system. At this height the barometric air pressure is exactly half of that at sea level. Mind you when you get back down to sea level you feel like a goddam hero. Unfortunately this effect only lasts a few days. Yours - I.
