Plissoft Noir

Zenith in Italy do a "Synt Dark", but the knot is nowhere near as black as the IB one. I like the contrast between handle and knot, so I expect I'll be after one when they come back into stock.

This brush has not been released yet. IB sometimes do that with products that will be released "soon" just so folks can get on the email notification list like they did with the Hawk. Their Instagram site said 6-8 weeks earlier this week. Hopefully before Christmas.

I have got Synt Dark from Zenith and Black Fibre from Muhle, both may look black on pics but in real life depending on surrounding light they are different shades of blackgreybeigebrown, the blackest knot I own is Men-U Pro Black

Right but I think these knots maybe closer to Maggards black synthetic rather than Muhle's. I think the Muhle had a bit of a purplish tinge to it.

I just recently received one the other day and I will offer my opinion and as especially opposed to the Maggard 22mm black synthetic.

This brush, the one by Italian Barber, is utterly fantastic!! It has more"backbone" than the Maggard one for sure. That is not to demean the latter as I have been using mine practically daily since the day I received it as I love it so much. They appear to the naked eye to be the same material, but at that point they diverge. For approx. $30 U.S. (shipping not included) you can get both and then use your other brushes to polish your shoes. ;)

SeanC, IMO these surpass the MÜHLE top of the line synthetics with the edge going to the Plissoft Noir one. You NEED these!! :)

I've succumbed already ;) and I'm currently giving it a thorough roadtest.

I have to agree about the backbone being right up the high end of the scale. Only the Ubersoft has more, but is not as soft on the face. The Maggard could well be the same knot, just set not quite so deep to allow a bit more splay.

That crossed my mind, as well as the Plissoft Noir being more tightly bundled per request.

There is a murky underworld of makers with blurred lines of who makes what for who. o_O

I am going to make a slight revision to my opinion(s) here. It seems that after more & more usage that IMO the Italian Barber Plissoft Noir may just be a tad too stiff for all 'round usage. The softer Maggard's 22mm black synthetic has more splay and just works better for me with a greater variety of soaps/croaps. That's not to say the PN is worse, but just a better match for harder soaps it appears. After careful scrutiny it appears the PN knot is merely bundled more tightly, hence the stiffness. YMMV.
