Dips are Like Wide Grip Pull Ups for the Back..They are Hard..Very Few Folks Can Handle the Weight of their Own Body Mass when its Just Hanging with Gravity..So they Avoid it..:)

I Trained with a Guy can came 2nd in the Worlds Strongest Man..We used to have a Laugh because when he was having an Off Cycle from his Steroids I was Far Stronger than Him with a 26 inch Waist & Under 12 Stone..I Trained Naturally & Never went Down that Road..

I have seen Guys at 25 Stone Plus that Cant Dip or Do Lateral Pull Ups for more than 2 or 3 Reps..They have No Core Strength because the Androgenic Drugs Blown them Up like a Blow Up Doll with Minimal Effort..o_O

The Guys that Trained for Show with a Few Exceptions were Weak as a Kitten..Hell they were Scared of Breaking Sweat encase they lost any Mass..;)

There are Few Serious Weight Lifters in any Gym today that Train Naturally..Or for the Last 30 Years for that Matter..:D

I trained with Selwyn Cottrell out in Holland. He had retired from shows after ripping a pectoral muscle. We both worked together and trust me the guy had super strength. I recall one time when we were out with our girlfriends in Den Haag and some guy came in to the pub who was being loud mouthed and throwing his weight around. Selwyn asked the guy to be quite. The foolish guy then decided to push Selwyn, so Selwyn calmly took both of his hands, Palm on top of his other palm and clamped them together in one of Selwyns hands. The guy went berserk trying to kick, head butt and get out of the grip. But Selwyn just remained calm and kept saying to the guy calm down. Was very funny to watch and the guy soon calmed down when he realised that he was not going to get out of the grip. Selwyn as cool as chips let him go and said its probably best you left now and don't come back.

As far as I'm aware he was not on steroids either. Just a true gentle giant.

10 frames of pool and mowed the front and back lawn, does any of that count?
Absolutely, yer my hero!

I've moved on a wee bit since my last post here:

Last week, my walks added up to 42 miles and tonight my exercises after 8 miles round the hills and 2.5 with the dog later on were as follows:

97 Press ups (34, 32, 31)
105 Sit ups (40, 35, 30) immediately followed by,
82 Leg raises (30, 26, 26)
3 x 10 Reps with 35kg on the EZ curl bar
2 x 10 Reps with each arm using a 15kg weight (don't know what to call this exercise but I hold the weight parallel to my leg at arms length and pull up working my shoulders, etc)
2 x 40 Squats without weights on my tip toes

The above is a daily routine in the evening and I alternate the curling bar day to day with 3 x 26 on each hand using my 200lb heavy grips.

Oh aye, and a fair old bit of digging, planting, mowing, edging, clipping, pruning, weeding and lifting around the 'gairden'. Not to mention the heaviest, hardest and most stamina draining exercise of all: making and drinking tea!

Not impressive by any stretch of the imagination but I feel I'm pushing myself and am feckin' buckled tonight....

Good effort Graeme.

Plenty of good core exercises in there. You'll be reaching brick shithoose status in no time!

Walking lunges are an excellent exercise to do without weight and you could do them anywhere.

Great workout man! :)
Thanks but it's nowt compared to your daily 4am blaster.

And cheers, TP. Not sure I'll ever be a brick shithoose (thanks for getting the spelling right there ;)) but as long as I am strong enough to the things I want to do and to help look after my folks and my little girl then I'll be happy enough. It helps drive out the mental demons too. Ha, Faither and the fella from Curry's were having difficulty with the new tumble drier yesterday so I took it off them and popped it in the car for the poor buggers. :D
