Pre shave

Thank you again gents, kul i match your thoughts on eucalyptus I always prefer a peppery menthol like tea tree so all menthol I use is of this background

Hi gents checked all costings involved in producing batches of this product, being top grade igredients its coming to approx £10-£12/50ml. This is probably quite high in cost so wanted to see if interested parties still are interested. I would be making the following three:

Melissa (same as the sample)
Bay, lime and peppercorn
Vetiver, amber, cedar and peppercorn.

All costs are calculated on trade prices to mininise costs I've given myself £2 for P&P so really am keeping it as low as possible.

Any interested parties please confirm on this thread. Thank you.

Third shave today. Shower, usual water rinses and splashes, Melissa, Braveheart with Gillette plus Wickhams Dandyism. Another great shave. Again nothing else used, just the Melissa, and again slick and thoroughly enjoyable. Didn't use it as an post-shave today as I'll try to make it go as far as possible as a pre.

I got the Mrs to have a sniff and she said...'lemon, a slightly oily smell' and shortly after added 'eucalyptus'. She said it's not overpowering and was quite neutral about the actual smell.... neither over enthusiastic nor critical, but liked the feel of the stuff on the face very much.

There's still some left (thanks for a generous sample) and it'll get used until it runs out. I still say it's an absolute delight to use and still say I'd love a big bottle of it....the feel and effect of it is the big thing with it for me and I could confidently say it would replace the Noxzema or the Proraso or the home-made mixes pre-shaves on many, if not most, days. When it runs out then obviously I'll return to an assorted range of stuff as I enjoy fiddling and trying different mixes out...BUT if I had a supply of Melissa then I would use it often.

Again....GREAT STUFF!

EDIT. Just seen the post re. costings.

If I could have 100ml delivered for £20 then I be OK with that (the container isn't especially crucial and if, as I said before, it helps to send it in basic container in order that I might use my own dispenser then so be it). Yes, there are definitely countless cheaper options and the concoctions I use now are really only pennies by comparison, but that's neither here nor there as it's good stuff and a big bottle would last for ages.

I'd prob. go for the third option in your list.

Await further news.

Stan I reckon £20 for 100ml is fine, as mentioned previously im not looking to make a profit from this. Infact I'm not, just enjoying concucting mixtures, something we rarely have to do these days.

So 50ml = £12
100ml = £20

Just to confirm base ingredients are:

Vitamin E oil
Vitamin E cream
Vitamin A emulsion
Vitamin C emulsion
Olive oil
Argan oil
Aqua
Glycerine

EO used (scent based)
Eucalyptus
Lemon
Melissa
Vetiver
Patchouli
Cedar
Amber
Black pepper
Bay laurel
Lime

Hi Nishy - I'd like 50ml each of the last two - ie not Melissa, brilliant as she is.

HAve you sorted containers? If not, how about something like this?

Logged and noted Carl. I have ordered the products for Monday, hopefully they arrive by Tuesday at the latest. On arrival I have to check out the oils (scents and stability) and then will make up the batches for you gents. I will also throw in a sample of what I believe is a game changer of a soap. Once made up to completion we can complete on funds.

Thanks again for your orders gents.

Nishy,
Can I have 50ml of the Bay Rum and Vetiver please?

I'm not fussed what you send them in. I have a few empty bottles I can use.

Ive spent a lovely few days with Melissa:winking:

I tried it in all sorts of combinations, dry skin, damp skin, face lathered, bowl lather, painted on.
It took it all in it's stride, applied on to damp skin and bowl lather, painted on is my fave combo.

Hats off to you, I was skeptical that you was going to be able to challenge my favourites, Murdock, T&H Ultimate Comfort & Zirh but you have presented an excellent product...Well done you!

It is a slippery beast, slightly more so than Murdock & T&H but not as slippery as Zirh. Zirh is like Teflon, but it has no scent :(

The scent is very well balanced, you have a good nose. I would prefer it without the Cedar as it comes across 'damp smelling' but heh, that's just me.
On the scent, I would say just below Murdock & T&H...just!
I would drop the Cedar and introduce Bergamot (only because that's what I like ;) )

I found I have to use around double the amount I use of my top 3 but it's still a minimal amount.

I like it and if I find the right fragrance's, will happily have them in my rotation.

I'm in for 50ml Lime & 50ml Vetiver

Thanks for the effort you have put in and I look forward to trying future products.

Wow Jacey thabks for the review im taken back! Murdock is also my favourite pre shave product. Bergamot I can do in the future. Thanks again for the comments your order has been logged.

I ordered all the ingredients today so hoping to have them tomorrow or Wednesday then the fun begins all over again! I may move this to the BST section and will obviously confirm all orders before delivery.

Gents all the ingredients arrived today had a sniff of the oils and im very pleased with each product. I have decided on three concoctions:

1. Spice market:
Vetiver, amber, cedar and black pepper.

2. Citrus Bay: bay laurel, sour lemon, lime and black pepper, eucalyptus.

3. Melissa: Citrus blend, lavender, eucalyptus, cedarwood.

All include vitamin E, vitamin A, Olive oil, glycerine and argan oil.

No SLS or parabens. All oils are organic and pure.

I have noted those who were interested, however anyone still interested please leave a message on this thread.

50ml = £12
100ml = £20

Inc delivery.

Thank you again.
