Ben Mendelsohn was in one of my all-time favourite films, The Year My Voice Broke. A brilliant film.
Spot on, Rob - a superb film.
If you haven’t seen it, “Mullet” is another wonderful Mendelsohn film that perfectly captures small-town Australia at the turn of the century. Another ripper is “Animal Kingdom”, where Mendelsohn is the archetypical Aussie thug - I grew up in a rough neighborhood, and Mendelsohn’s performance is perfection.
I haven't seen either of those. I'll keep an eye out for them. Cheers.
As we're on the brink of TOTAL GLOBAL NUCLEAR WAR, I'm just watching 'Threads' (1984). Good fun! Very retro.
Over the last week I have watched A Quiet Place and You Were Never Really here.
A quiet place was good and I like the original concept, whilst it had a few scares it was far from the scariest film I have seen. Enjoyed it though.
You Were Never Really Here was a bit odd but very enjoyable. Very violent and Joaquin Phoenix is excellent despite only saying about 50 words in the whole film!
Four Lions - too funny.
Red Sparrow - Lots of Americans pretending to be Russian by using naff accents and being slow and dour psychopaths. Any sympathy for Jennifer Lawrence disappeared when she went psycho on the shagging couple "you broke her jaw..".
Only just managed to watch through the first, sexual exploitation, rape and murder bit..Got to the institutionalised sexual abuse bit not long after and said fuck this for a boring, twisted pile of shite and went and put a Disney cartoon on instead.
Remember kids Russians are bad in all sorts of barbaric and inhuman ways which they justify with a weird combination of Commie the State owns you/Imperialist conquest/Mafia exploitation tropes.
Watched East is East again yesterday, still a funny film nearly 20 years on.
Just watched I Tonya and thought it was very good.
Margot Robbie was superb!
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets with the lovely Cara Delevingne
I thoroughly enjoyed it in a John Carter kind of way...
Not a film as such but watched Greig Davies You Magnificent Beast stand up show yesterday and have to say it was absolutely hilarious. Some of it is quite close to the bone but I found it extremely funny and I would thoroughly recommend it!
Deadpool 2, cracking film and very funny with it. Highly recommended.
