S.O.T.D. Saturday 11th March to Friday 17th March 2017

Cracking stuff you absolute Looney! Good work. It's addictive, the amount of concentration you have to put into it all! :D I doubt I even need to shave really, considering I only tidy up my cheeks and neck, but I find it a pleasure having started with SRs.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing your 'SOTD's to come! :D
Ha, yes Looney is one way to describe it :D It's my 7th ever true straight shave, but my last one was a few months ago now so I was a bit nervous picking it up again! Especially considering I'd never had a successful full two pass shave. The SR really is a difference beast, but I can tell that when the technique gets properly dialed in, I'll be getting the best shaves of my life. Takes a lot of time though and I still have a number of razors I'm yet to shave with, so SR nirvana is a long way off I'm sure

Wednesday 15th March

OSP - Bay Rum (prototype)
Standard
Voskhod TC #5
Rinse > Alum > Rinse
BigBoar's Bay Rum
Lacura Aq Cream Moisturiser

Bay Rum shave today. This was the last in my DE rotation and was a very pleasant, relaxing ¾ hour experience. Blade could have gone further, but for the price, is now history.

Hope yours are as good !!!!

Wednesday 15th

Soap - Tabac Original
Brush - RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth.
Face lather
Razor - Schick Injector E5
Blade - Personna Injector
Post - Thayer's
Smell -Tabac Original a/s

Great shave today. Vintage Schicks, imo, are to SEs what vintage Gillettes are to older DEs. Very close and smooth, with no need for any pickups. Tabac's a true classic; soap and fragrance.

Brush: Rod Neep #1810 - Short Retro Deluxe
Razor: Gibbs Adjustable No 17 w/ Supermax Super Platinum adapted (1)
Soap: Wickhams 1912 Classic 24
Post: Attar clone of Creed Aventus

Changed blade in the razor, didn't feel the Bic worked well. Had a great shave until I cut a small pimple under my nose, no issues aside from that. The soap lathered instantly and I had enough lather to shave my dog as well if I wanted to .... The attar is almost identical to Creed, doesn't have the polish of the genuine article but in a blind smell test not many would be able to tell, for day to day use it is perfect.

Wed 15th March

Omega s10065 Synthetic
De Vergulde Hand soap
ES S/S S.Edge Claymore
Schick Proline P-20 [ 3 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Williams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion

Consider myself lucky to have possession of this British made SE Razor. May well be too hefty for many, but I get on with it very well. Am finding with the Schick blade, I am getting very smooth and comfortable Shaves with a first class all round finish, being easy to work around my upper lip and chin. Actually felt that the shave was easier and closer than yesterday`s with the General, will judge its longevity in the morning.

Understand that a cast model and a machine tooled version is due out soon, at around £75 & £155 respectively.

Still getting used to the kit, but really pleased with DE shaving.
This morning:
First use of new Merkur 42c (just like Dad's)
Derby Blade,...freebie with razor
Kent S/T badger
Exec Shaving pre-oil
Vulfix Persian Musk, whipped up in an SV Grail
Alum
Cade a/s balm

Took things really slowly, three passes plus pick-ups. The razor/blade combo really felt like it wasn't doing anything, but it gave me as good a shave as I've experienced, minimal tiny nicks and no burn.
I'm not experienced enough to assess the merits or otherwise of the components, just flying by the seat of my pants, listening to others and,...taking my time!
If I was really pushed for time I think I'd opt for a proglide shave (cue cries of "Kill the infidel!")....rather than try to rush a DE.
The results so far have been amazing, and my flabber is not easily gasted.
My advice, from a newbie is treat your shaving as a hobby, offshore powerboat racing is probably cheaper, so enjoy your shaving and .......take your time!
