Greetings,
another early start for me today..today's shave was excellent, my R41/SharpEdge duo performed superbly, giving me a 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report..it's been a "menthol Theme" shave week for me, i haven't gave my Proraso much attention lately and forgot how good the soap & A/S splash are, wonderful stuff.;)..My face is feeling fresh & smooth....My deepest condolences go out to the people of London & to the families of the people killed by the mindless brainwashed subhuman.
Take it easy,ladies & gentlemen.

Prep: Shower
Razor: Muhle R41 (2013 Model) Ikon Bulldog Handle
Blade: Treet Durasharp Carbon
Brush: Vulfix / L'Occitane Plisson
Soap: Valobra Stick
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDP: Miller Harris Terre D'Iris

What a surprise! A few days ago I commented on how many favourable reviews the new model (2013) R41 received as opposed to the previous 2011 model in respect of which most of the reviews were really quite negative.

Paul (Blademonkey) kindly suggested I try his R41 and this morning I shaved with it.

Just as soon as you put a blade into this razor it is plainly and visibly obvious that the head has been redesigned, the blade no longer protrudes to a ludicrous degree as it did in the old model and the top cap exerts enough tension to hold the blade rock solid there is no chance of the protruding blade being able to minutely flex as it seems to do on the 2011 model.

The shave I would describe as absolutely straightforward and a standard DE shave, I would never have described the 2011 model as a standard shave in my wildest dreams. I ended up with a really first class smooth shave certainly one of my very best DE shaves, not a hint of soreness which was what I always got with the previous model.

In my opinion Muhle has taken what I personally would describe as a virtually unusable razor/paperweight and have revamped it into a truly great shaver, I shall shave again with the razor tomorrow with a stainless blade but I can't see how it could be much better.

Regards
Dick.

A more fruity & musky version of Aventus, which is very nice indeed. Longevity is excellent & I always seem to get a compliment when wearing it. Highly recommended.
I've been using a small sample of it, on and off, recently. It is a beautiful, tarte, red-/black-fruit scent and it lingers all day. I've had some compliments wearing it as well. I'm not familiar with Aventus but I would definitely recommend Cedrat Boise! (@Wazzer3)

I'm pleased you enjoyed your shave with the R41, it's a pussy cat and not a tiger, great first review :)

This is really interesting as I was thinking of digging out my R41 this weekend, even though when I last tried to use it I struggled to get on with it - I think it's the pre 2013 model, which may explain why. I didn't realise that the newer model was so different!

Brush: Vie Long 04503
Razor: Gibbs Adjustable No 17
Soap: Phoenix and Beau Solaris

My absolute favourite P&B soap, never lets me down and I want to use it up so I can try one of the 10 weeks cured soaps. Top shave again with the Gibbs and Polsilver SI, if you ever get a chance to try one take it! The fruity 4711 Nouveau topped it off quite nicely, wonderful blast of berries.
