Pre Shave: Hot Shower, Bulldog Face Wash and Proraso Red
Razor: iKon 101 + OSS Handle
Blade: ASCO orange (#1)
Brush: Hans Baier Silver Tip
Soap: Palmolive Stick grated
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Thayers unscented
AS: Nivea Originals Balm

A not so great shave today, the Palmolive Soap performed well after grating it up, I had two leftover sticks and decided to grate up what was left and stick it in a tin. What was not so good was the ASCO blade, no nicks, weepers or irritation but after three passes my face felt like it does normally after one pass with a blade that usually gives good results. The iKon 101 is quite mild but heavy and most blades I have tried are at least OK in this razor, the only other blade I recall that failed abysmally in this razor was the Merkur blade but that was actually worse than the ASCO.

I will try the same blade in the Fatip Piccolo tomorrow.

Monday's shave

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Coal Tar Soap and Village Barbour Shave Oil.
Razor - Ikon Shavecraft 101.
Blade - Gillette Silver Blue (day 1).
Soap - Proraso (Green) Classic Shaving Cream.
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 - Best Badger
Post shave - Trumpers Skin Food (Lime), followed by Myrsol Formula "K" After Shave.

Good 2 pass shave, with touch ups, no issues. The Myrsol Formula K had quite a kick, pleasant wake me up factor!

Greetings,
When i first started DE shaving in 2016, a friend of mine started at the same time who bought his first on line razor which was the Jagen DavidE01 & i bought the B30, however DE shaving wasn't for him and he passed on his kit to me,DE shaving isn't for everyone..each to their own.anyway..at the weekend he kindly give me The Yingjili classic, which i wasn't sure about..so today i tried it out with a homemade shim another first time use..the Verdict?..Suprisingly good, the Yingjili is quite light, i would put it in the same aggression as a Gillette tech, but with the shim added it gave it that extra bite.
A easy menthol themed 3 pass+pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report.
Enjoy your day,ladies & gentlemen.

Morning gents,

A thoroughly disappointing shave last night. It all started off great, Brad Sears Original Gonzo 24mm Silvertip whipping up a lovely lather with the Fitjar Fjellheim shaving soap. This soap is a first for me and when I smelt it from the container, I really didn't think I'd enjoy it. Upon lathering though it actually started to grow on me. A really fresh scent, I'll hold on to it for now, just because it's different and it did whip up a nice lather.

The shave itself though was pants and the blade was to blame in this instance for sure. A Kai Captain Titan Mild (with the blue edge) used ¾ maybe 5 times to date. I used the General on a Titanium handle. The handle is lovely, feel great in the hand. I'm yet to get a really good shave out of the General, but this was definitely the fault of the blade. Only 2 days growth and it was tugging on the first pass, left a horribly patchy finish. I thought it might be the General, given I haven't had that great shave from it yet, so I swapped the blade into the King Cobra for the second pass. Nope, definitely the blade, the second pass was a little better because I'd somehow hacked through the worst of the beard on the first pass, but still not enjoyable. The Mrs was in the bathroom at the same time as me, unusually and I felt the need to comment to her on how crap the shave was! She just laughed :D. I somehow finished with a relatively respectable end result, not good by any means, but just passable. How I didn't end up with loads of irritation and very red, I have no idea. Anyway the blade went in the bin and I look forward to another shave tomorrow probably to try and recover this crap one!
