25/10/17

Brush - Yaqi
Soap - Vitos Red
Razor - DE89
Blade - Tian LI SS
Post - Witch Hazel/Super Drug Sierra Breeze

I'm coming to the end of the Shave Dash 50g Vitos Red sample and I like it a lot, but I'm struggling to decide whether to buy the 1kg block or a smaller one. It's not like I need the 1kg block but somehow I don't feel I have made a commitment to DE shaving without owning a kilo brick of tallow goodness.

Pre
Hot shower

Razor
Feather as d2

Blade
Perma sharp

Brush
Wolf whiskers 25mm black wolf fan

Soap
B&M Soapmakers of Awesometown

Post
Thayers Lemon
Nivea 2 phase aftershave lotion

Face lathered with today's soap and after hearing all the good reviews I expected no less but this soap was fantastic, really gentle and kind to my sensitive skin, great scent and really easy to lather. Still don't seem to get quite as close with the perma sharp blade but I think that's just down to the mild razor...overall a really enjoyable experience !!

Schick E2
Schick Proline ( 3 )
Alum Rub/ Rinse off
Tuff Green A/S. Lotion

Whilst this blade calms down the E2 I cannot seem to use anything but short strokes, somewhat constrained by an awareness that it still might bite.
I did complete the Shave without mishap and attained a reasonable Shave apart from around the neck, more work needed in that area.Have finally decided that I get a much better Shave with the PAL Injector-Matic using the same blade, and much more enjoyable too.

Well I finally got my hands on one of the new Gem bladed razors. First impressions?
It really is a thing of beauty and feels very nice in the hand, the screw which attaches the cap to the handle looks a bit flimsy but it's steel, so I'm sure it isn't. Anyway on to the important bit, the shave....
I put in a carbon blade, stuck with the croap theme and face lathered with Proraso Red, and away I went.
My goal, as always a DFS, was achieved in two very smooth passes. The head naturally leads you into the shaving angle and good audio feedback confirms it.
Used an alum block for testing purposes, not a tingle. I really really like this razor.
Taking it apart to clean it, and my doubts about the screw deepened, will taking the blade off and on eventually damage the thread? Maybe, and maybe that's why the vintage razors avoided using them, but it performs it's duties magnificently at the moment.

Luck Tiger face wash
Edwin Jagger pre shave
The Traditional Shaving Company Leodis cream
The Personal Barber synthetic brush
The Personal Barber razor
Treet black
RazoRock Dead Sea Aftershave

A good shave today, no weepers nor irritation. Decided to no longer go against the grain, seems to be the cause of a lot of my issues. So just a three pass, two with the grain and the across on either side.

It not super smooth but it is good enough.

Just had a couple weeks with the electric, a wet shave today was welcome relief, electrics; a failed experiment for me, luckily there's 90 day no quibble refund offer on.

So back to shave of the week for me:

Prep: Kiehls face wash
Razor: Gillette proglide
Brush: Simpsons chubby Synthetic
Cream: BBA shave
Post: BBA post

Plan B for travelling is I've now ordered some BBA shave butter to try out.

Wednesday's shave :)

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap face wash, followed by Proraso Pre-Shave Cream (Green).
Razor - Supply-SE v1.0.
Blade - Schick Proline B20 (Day 5).
Soap - Proraso Eucalyptus and Menthol Shaving Soap (Green).
Bowl - Little Wren.
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic Badger.
Post shave - Proraso (Green) After Shave.

Was away with the lads today on a whisky tour, had to leave early so opted for the Supply-SE for a good and safe shave.

Nice 3 pass, Proraso performed excellently as ever.

All the best,

Chris
