S.O.T.D Saturday 24th June to Friday 30th June 2017

Evening Shave.

Baxters of California Face Wash.
MWF.
Vulfix 404.
Merkur Progress (3).
Gillette Nacet (1).
Thayers Witch Hazel (cucumber).
Alcolado Glacial splash.

I bowl lathered the MWF today, and although the result was decent, I much preferred the face lather I achieved yesterday. First use of a Gillette Nacet (courtesy of the very generous @patw) and I was very impressed. Very smooth with absolutely zero irritation, and a lovely close shave. 3 passes with minimal pick ups. Very muggy in London this evening so a splash of the Alcolado Glacial to finish off.

@Barry Giddens - the Nacets are a bit under the radar but work really well for me too. They don't last that long - I'll toss them after 2 or 3 shaves. When they are good they are very good. A friend got me a stash of them in duty-free in Dubai airport. I've been interested in your progress with MWF - what sort of water do you have where you are? Hard or soft? Seems to make all the difference. cheers - I.

Evening Iain. Yes I was most impressed with the Nacet. To be honest, I don't think I have heard of them before. I live in a very hard water area which I know makes lathering more of a challenge sometimes. I have had excellent results with OSP, P&B, and PAA soaps. But the MWF is proving a little more challenging. What do you suggest?

Move to a soft water area Barry , the FAT is worth it !! :D

Good evening Barry - I don't know what to suggest. I live in Glasgow - we have pretty much the softest water in the UK. Even so the Fat was a bit hissy for me but that being said it was one of the first soaps I tried on my wet shaving journey. I actually finished a puck of it! That doesn't happen often. I used to soak the puck in water - in the ceramic dish - while I showered and that seemed to help me. I know you have tried this. "I have had excellent results with OSP, P&B, and PAA soaps." - stick to them? Or move house? - ha ha - cheers - I.

I live in a very hard water area and very nearly didn't buy MWF because of the comments but liked the dish so much I went for it.
Am I glad I did. I used to drip a few drops of warm/hot water on before the shower and thought that was why I was getting such good results.
Recently Ive been cold water shaving, same great lather.

Good advice as always Iain!

Shave #4 on this blade is better than shave #1 on 99.99% of other blades. ;)
