I find the General easier going than the Hawk, but I think it benefits from a very sharp blade like the Super. The Dorco blade performed adequately until it got to rough stuff, the Pro equipped Hawk had to be brought in for ninth inning relief to clean up the crown stubble which the General/Dorco struggled with.

Two Pass Shaving Routine..

Hot Water Prep & Massage with Argan Oil
Russian Dvuhzakovnaya 1/2 Hollow 5/8th (Freshly Honed)
French Fitchard Pure Badger
Valobra Tallow Soap
Logona Mann Balm

I Had My Maiden Shave this Morning with My Freshly Honed NOS Russian Dvuhzakovnaya 5/8th..This 1960s Model is Far Softer Steel than My Later 1970s Russian SR..It Took a Wicked Sharp Edge on the Hone But Very Smooth on the Face..I Like them Both but this 1962 Dvuhzakovnaya 5/8th is the One I Prefer..The Factory Grind is Excellent & it Was a Doddle to Hone..Its a Belter of a Shaver..These Commie SRs Shave Ever So Close & the Russian Steel has Characteristics of its Own;)

I Am Dolphin Smooth & Refreshed..:D

Thursday

Greetings all...

Soap - OSP Fougère
Brush - Semogue 1520
Face lather
Razor - Gillette Aristocrat
Blade - Gillette Nacet #1
Post - Thayer's and Floïd MV

Silky smooth today. These Nacets really are great blades. Soap acquisition disorder is kicking in re. OSP, though. The Fougère is a cracking soap for performance...the need to try more is becoming stronger. Maybe Neroli when Spring comes.

Have a great one, Folks.

Stephen.

I can vouch for and highly recommend the OSP Neroli Stephen , top drawer as with all of the OSP soaps. :)

Pre Shave: Hot Shower, Bulldog Face Wash and Proraso Red
Razor: Ikon X3 + OSS Handle
Blade: Merkur (#2)
Brush: Kent BLK4 Silvertip Badger
Cream: L'Occitane Cade
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Thayers unscented
AS: Nivea Replenishing Balm

A slightly better shave today than my last, the Merkur blade performed better in the X3 than with the 101 head, but having to shave knowing that the blade is not working as well as the rest of the shave components is not the way to shave, at least not by choice. The result was a smooth and pretty close shave and despite the 3 passes and the extended touch up and polish to get that result there was no irritation. One last shave with the Merkur blade in the Fatip Piccolo planned for tomorrow, if the Merkur can't deliver my normal 3 pass shave in the Fatip it really is a useless blade for me.

Razor: Gillette Aristocrat 1947 (Birth year razor)
Blade: Feather Platinum (5)
Brush: Fendrihen Silvertip Black Faux Ebony Handle
Soap: Route 66 Lavender Wood
Aftershave: Folsom Capri

The Route 66 Lavender Woods is a deep woods cedar, crushed Pine tips and hints of unmistakable wild English Lavender energized to create a soothing, woodsy, masculine scent. Excellent soap.
Tonight's shave was without any problems at all. Did 4 passes ATG in both direction for a very near BBS. Folsom Capri is a top 5 aftershaves in my books.
Canada and the U.S.A. play tonight for the World Junior Championship. This is probable the best hockey you will ever see. Good luck to both teams.
