SOTD 11th Jan.JPG

Pre Shave: Hot Shower, Bulldog Face Wash and Proraso Red
Razor: Ikon 101 + OSS Handle
Blade: Super+ platinum Israeli Personna (#1)
Brush: Hans Baier Silver Tip
Cream: L'Occitane Cade
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Thayers unscented
AS: Nivea replenishing balm

Great shave today! The blade of many names works well in the Ikon 101.

Wednesday evening...

Soap - Phoenix and Beau Baskerville
Brush - RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth.
Face lather
Razor - Merkur 34C HD
Blade - Polsilver SI #1
Post - Thayer's and Fine Platinum a/s

First outing for the Baskerville. Lovely, strange scent. Tarry ropes and...black olives (!) tainted with vetiver. As usual with P&B, the performance is outstanding and worked beautifully with the Merkur/Polsilver combo.

Prep: Shower
Razor: Unbranded French
Blade: Kampfe Bros. Star
Brush: Vulfix 404 Handle, Cashmere 24mm Synthetic Knot
Soap: Vitos Extra Super
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDP: Chanel No. 19

My first shave since last Saturday as I've been flat on my back in bed with a shocking bout of sciatica that I have had for seven weeks and was going, when it returned with a vengeance. The first time for many years I have missed a single days shave.

This new synthetic knot arrived yesterday from Ottawa Canada and I fitted it into my old 404 handle (here is the link)
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/491593383/24mm-cashmere-synthetic-extra-dense?ref=related-0

My first impressions are that I like it a lot, quite how much I am unsure as yet and I need a few shaves with it, it is a finer fibre than the Tuxedo knot from the same company and as a result is easier to flex/splay, this suits me just fine but I fully accept that many will want a stiffer feel, I am and have always remained a big fan of the original Plisson knot which many find splays too easily, this knot is nearer in terms of flexibility to the Plisson than the RazoRock Plissoft. I will report back after further use.

Regards
Dick.

Thur 12th Jan

Omega S 10065 Syn
Williams Ice Blue cream
Schick N3
Schick Twin ( 3- Japan)
Williams AV Ice Blue

My Third Shave with the N3, which is providing a revealation when fitted with a modern Twin blade. Today chose to try it with a cream.

The lather was very copious and provided slickness and cushion. One can feel the blade when shaving , and it is very efficient in removing growth, but also smooth.

So far this is proving to be the best of the modern Schicks that I have tried, and that includes the Adjustable. It is giving my favoured PALs a run for their money. The Shave quality is up there with the best, and the finish is equal to that I got with the highly regarded General.
