Scent of The Day

Does seem to be quite a ' marmite ' one Benz, be very interested to hear what feedback ( if any ) you get from co workers and others over the course of the day.

I can see why! Hour and 10 minutes in and all notable skank has done and the lemon has sweetened somewhat from the bitter rind on which it opened. On wrists I'm getting sweet lemon only, on chest I'm getting definite lavender as well. It is an interesting one but without the advice to persevere I probably would have been in my right mind to wash it off.

Guerlain Jicky EDT - @Sid James told me to persevere with it as the opening is 'skanky' and I can see where he's coming from. An hour in and it has settled down into a subtle but notable lavender/lemon/vanilla blend. I can definitely see where the bitter, animalistic opening would be enough to deter some, if not most! The further away from the point of contact you smell, the less evident the 'skank' is and the fresher it is. Undecided as yet - the early dry down isn't particularly 'me' either. I'll give it time and a couple more outings.

Greetings
It's fascinating how we all have so very different ideas of what constitutes a 'good/pleasant' fragrance. I adore Jicky and wish the 'skanky' opening would last longer, I would love to try a really early edition where real civet was used instead of civetone although I have to say I'm less than impressed how the civet was obtained. Now and again a pre war version appears on e -bay but the prices are frightening.

Regards
Dick.

Absolutely, Dick. I can see where it has its merits and I get that it's right up people's streets but I'm definitely heading towards the spicy citrus which features so heavily these days! :p It's certainly got its cult following, that's for sure!
