Setting-up iTunes account

I'm trying to set-up an iTunes account, but, as soon as I try to use either my Paypal account, the verification process after I log-in to Paypal and agree that the account can be used grinds to a halt. I therefore opted to enter my card details, at which point it says that a verification code will be sent to my email address (which I've triple-checked for accuracy), but the email isn't either in my Inbox nor my Spam folder. Any ideas as to what's going wrong?

I'm trying to set this up on the iTunes software I downloaded to my computer, and, after entering my card details, I got the message "An email with a verification code was sent to (my email address)" It gives me an option to re-send the request, which I've done twice, but no email has appeared.

Email in theory should be instant but can take a few hours.

I appreciate I may be teaching you to suck eggs but have you quit the app and or restarted the machine?

Are you using a Web interface to see your email or a locally installed email client such as Outlook using POP mail?

If the latter, you need to check the former as many email services will Spam filter your mail before you pick it up. You would find the mail in the service provider Spam box which would not be downloaded to yours. If you use Exchange mail or IMAP you should not have this problem.

I'm using BT internet's email, wich seems to use Yahoo Mail. I'm afraid I don't understand some of your terminology, so I'm presuming that answers your question.
If you look at your mail using a Web Browser then all is good. The emails are missing for some other reason.

If you look at them using a mail tool such as Outlook, Microsoft Mail, Mac Mail etc. Then you might not be seeing the provider's 'Junk' folder.

Yahoo call the folder 'Spam'. The bottom line here is to look at your mail using your web browser to be certain that there is nothing in 'Spam' as shown there.

Cheers, that's what I thought you must have meant. I've repeatedly checked the Spam folder but there's nothing in there.
