Shave of the day Saturday 19th August-Friday 25th August 2017

Today's SOTD
Went for a sample of Tallow and Steel - Morocco.
First thoughts are... It smells like you've been next to a burning fire, not how I imagined Morocco to smell, if so it stinks!!
Soap was very soft as I pressed into the bottom of the bowl, it was easy enough to build a lather, however I struggled to actually thicken it up, once on the face I continued to lather it in and attempt to thicken it up, I managed to thicken it some what, a bit too much effort if I'm honest, really had to work it on to get anywhere, once shaving as soon as I had rinsed the razor in water and the droplets met the lather, it pretty much was a race against time to shave as the droplets were taking the lather off, overall I didn't find enough protection where I needed it,
Post shave feel doesn't feel too bad, but it's been better, luckily I'll stick some balm on to salvage the shave,
Will give Tallow another go, but so far dodged a bullet with trying a sample and not grabbing a tub

First use of the Whiskey & Freedom Soap Co products, both soap and aftershave lotion.
It's their signature scent interestingly named "Gal-Sneaker". The scent profile is Sandalwood Bourbon with a hint of Vanilla. The soap is all natural, made with goats milk lovely warm manly scent on the soap which provided good cushion and slickness. The aftershave lotion is more of a balm like consistency and gave an excellent (non greasy) moisturising feel to the face. Overall a nice simple and efficient shave.

I started with the new C3 but as is often an issue with the Repeaters, the blade wasn't being held properly. Will take some fiddling. The I2 stepped in and finished the beard nicely, but when it came to the head shave I started to get frustrated getting from DFS to BBS. Enter the $5 V3A clone/SABI handled $.04 Tian Li wielding beast which just destroyed the remaining stubble in one pass laughing all the way. Hmm.

Love this soap, glycerine based soaps get a bad rep but never failed to get a great lather from this soap.Awkwad shave holding the razor after two days demolition ofa cocnrete and solid stone greenhouse base, they used to make thing to be beuilt to last, hands are throbbing!

Thursday

Olive Oil Soap and Groomed Facial Scrub
Proraso PreShave Cream
Nanny's Arabian Nights Soap
Zenith Boar Brush
Ever-Ready 1924 with A GEM SS Blade(#1)
Alum Block and rinse
Arko Classic Cream
Benjamins Mentholated Bay Rum
Molecule 01 EDP

Not the most satisfying shave today. My first shave with a Shovelhead. The blade was a little more difficult to load so I didn,t use a shim. I think I have a travel version as the handle is very short and also very slippery. The overall result was ok...but I had a couple of weepers and it didn't pass the Alum test......oh and before anyone says......a bad workman always blames his tools!
Never use a fresh blade in a 1924, use a Shim, do not rush. I used a 1924 today, report later.
Damn good Shave.

Thur 24th August

RazoRock Syn. 24mm
Cyril Salter hard soap
ER 1924 + Ex EJ 89 Handle
Gem coated [ 2 ] + 1/2 Spine Shim
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Tuff Green A/S Lotion

Continued the Vintage SE Trail with the ER 1924 + EJ 89 handle.

Today added a 1/2 Spine Shim, which I know has drawn mixed views but It works for me. A razor which is rated as a harsh Shaver is turned into a smooth one. Though the Shave was smooth, the Razor was still ultra efficient, and I attained a good close all round Shave. In fact was as good as recent Shaves with AC powered Razors.

I have not tried the like of the Sabre/ Rocnel , but they will have to be good to beat the Shave I had with the 1924. Must say how well the CS Soap performed, and am surprised how little this inexpensive soap seems to be used.

Afternoon shave.

Nivea Face Wash, BBA Shave Oil.
NSS Traditional Lemon, Basil & Mandarin Soap.
RazoRock Bruce 24mm Synthetic.
Asylum Evolution (on loan).
Astra SP (1).
RazoRock XXX Aftershave.
BBA Post Shave Balm.

After a rather disappointing effort yesterday, the planets realigned today, and I had a fantastic 'life is good' shave. I'm still amazed by how much a shave can affect my mood. Is that healthy? Probably not but hey ho.
