How is your prep? What soap are you using?
A few questions but my gut feeling is that in my understanding the focus uses a pivot mechanism therefore are you possibly using too much pressure?
Finally what blade are you using?
Also finish your shave with a nice splash of witch hazel, IMO it works wonders.

One of at least four versions of Barbasol's non-floating head design licensed to, or at least produced by other manufacturers. This razor is unbranded, but the design of the cast handle pegs it as a Cooper, date unknown. Quite finicky about angle but if you hold to that angle an effective shaver. Good three pass BBS beard and head shave. Permasharp blade.

Thanks for passing on the link - yes you are right, they aren't cheap but if the blades continue to be that good for me they're not expensive either. I can feel another tense stand-off with Customs and Excise and the Post Office coming on. Thanks again - yours - I.

It is a nice brush, absolutely beautiful and feels good. It is a bit different to the Plissoft style synthetics and I'm finding myself still getting used to it in truth. I don't think it says on the website but the knot is 30mm. I think that is the only bit to get used to, the knot size. I like it and I can see it being a mainstay. Are you a member of the Shaving station PG Facebook group? Join it and there are membership codes and good offers. Handy before you purchase, could get an extra present ;)
