Shaving brush care advice

I recently picked up a new badger brush, a little pricier than I've previously gone for (silvertip baby).

The reason for the new brush is the knot came loose in my original EJ best badger. I was never overly impressed with it, as it seemed to shed throughout its life.

I've always rinsed my brushes out post shave, under cold water, and then gently swirled them on a towel to dry them.

My badger was then hung upside down, but my synth and boar I stand bristles up.

Having never exposed it to overly hot water, I was a bit shocked when the knot came loose (although it does sit in a window, therefore is exposed to the effects of the sun).

So, I thought I would check for advice on how to best care for my new purchase. How should I look after my brushes?

TIA.

You sound like you're doing the right things. However, to dry, I'd leave it out of direct sunlight: it may have softened the glue. After rinsing, I give mine a gentle shake and squeeze, before painting back and forth on a towel. Then I usually leave them (synth and boar) to dry on a stand about 45-90 degrees on top of the bedside cabinet. The angle is coincidental; just the way my brushes balance nicely on their stand.

Somewhere nice and airy works for me.

My advice is not to overdo the squeezing and towell mushing after the shave. Let it dry naturally.

Also mind how much you splay the brush during face/bowl lathering or loading. If you rub your face or the soap with the glue bump, it will lead to excessive shedding and hairs breaking.
