slant razors

I've used the 37c, ATT S1 (and S2), iKon X3 and iKon Shavecraft 102.

Out of all of them I found the 37c way too aggressive and while the ATT's looked amazing and felt great I also found them a bit too aggressive for my liking.

The two iKon's are very similar, but for me it seems I always keep going back to the 102.

I've owned and used Merkur 37C and 39C, and currently own an iKon X3 slant.

There really is nothing to fear from these razors. The Merkurs seem to be a bit more aggressive than the iKon, but none of them will bite you unless you annoy them. I was actually very surprised when I used my first slant, a 39C if I recall correctly, by how benign it was. I was expecting to have a right fight on my hands, but it never happened.

As to whether there is any advantage using a slant, I'm not sure that there is. They're quieter than non-slant razors, but both sorts take the beard from your face. I'd say that slants deal with 3 days growth a bit better than a non-slant.

I once read a description of slant razors on another forum which was "they're an ingenious solution for a problem that doesn't really exist", and I think I know what they meant, but I like them.

Regards
Ian

I got myself a 37C recently, and it's every bit as all of you say. At the first shave, couldn't really get along with it. On the second one, look her straight in the eyes (or it's razor equivalent), loaded a smooth not too sharp blade (Voskhod), and wow, what a shave. It must be one of the most comfortable and effortless shaves I ever had.

Non-Aggressive blades go well with Aggressive razors & vice versa.

I started of 6mths ago with 34c then I bought 510 progress and three days ago I bought 39c slant and like other members was bit hesitant using one of these specially after watching a few you tube videos of much more experienced de shavers getting a few nicks using one of these. So took the plunge loaded up Astra blade into it and just used it like any of my others de razor and let the razor do the work. Wow only two passes on 3 day growth and first real bbs shave with no irritation not even on neck which real sensitive and no nicks. All I can say is go for it and don't over think it when go to use it just let the weight of the razor do its job
