Softest synthetic brush

The absolutely softest tipped synthetic brushes are: muhle silvertip fibre, Frank Shaving Pur-tech, Frank Shaving G4 and the DS cosmetic tall handle brushes.

However, all synthetics are softer on the face than badger. Even working my softest silvertip on my face too long will lead to some irritation, not so with synthetics. I can even re-build a lather on my last pass with a synthetic and not get irritated skin!!

Yaqi "Mew" is the softest I've used... Like a cloud. Makes Muhle synthetics feel scratchy! Simpsons CH2 comes in second place, probably the Mew's equal for softness but extra density and lower loft give a totally different (less cloud like) face feel.

This is indeed a great suggestion!
Lovely soft brush with a killer handle!
I actually have a second one of these for my travel kit.

I'd have to disagree.
I own a Muhle V2 33K256 silvertip synth & the Razorock Plissoft Bruce is far softer. It's not even close. The Muhle has more backbone though.
I'm not talking about YMMV - the other half almost nicked it for a makeup brush after she felt how soft it was.
I'm sure there are probably softer synths than the Razorock too - it's not like I've tried every brush out there.

Perhaps the aspect that you're referring to is the density.

The STF is much denser but the fibres are finer and the tips feel like air. The plissoft is a very sparse knot which may give the illusion that it's softer but if I push down on the brush, I definitely feel it to be more pokey (not scritchy though because I actually don't find any synthetics to be scritchy). I can mash the STF into my face and it'll never feel pokey like the Razorock Bruce plissoft or the Yaqi plissoft (a denser version of the Razorock plissoft).

I really can't get the obsession with softness. I've got a fairly sensitive skin, and Muehle is plenty soft for me. Backbone is what's making a difference to, say, YaQi. Muehle uses mixed types of fibers (straight and curly) to achieve that, whereas the others only use one type. So performance wise Muehle wins hands down. But then - what do you need that additional softness of other brushes for, seriously?
