SOTD : Saturday 10th February - Friday 16th February 2018.

Greetings All,

Thursday shave

One day's growth and warm shave

Preparation – Showered then face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)
Soap: TOBS Sandalwood shaving cream
Razor: Rockwell 6C (4P)
Blade: Lord Super Chrome (4th)
Brush: RazoRock 400 (face lather)

Post Shave: Hot then cold water rinse, Alum, Nivea 2 Phase followed by Proraso Red AS.

Lord Super Chrome Test
Day 4

And. . .

I can never get over how much forgiveness TOBS shaving creams add to the shave. I could feel the blade wanting to attack, sense its yearn to shed blood, but. . . yup I got a few weepers, but no nicks. Overall it was a nice shave. So, was the Day 3 shave like a Voskhod Day 2? Not sure, but yesterday was extremely uncomfortable.

Of the Lord range I have tried so far, you will not be surprised for me to say this is my least favourite. Where does it stand in the rankings:

(I sip my coffee and pause)

1. Lord Rainbow
2. Shark SS
3. Lord Platinum
4. Gillette Nacet
5. Astra SP
6. Lord Super Chrome
7. Dorco Stainless (New Platinum)
8. Perma-Sharp Super

I will be slightly changing my process from next week - after four days not shaving (Thursday to Monday) - I look like a hobo, a look the wife does not like, so I will re-instate my Saturday 2 pass shave (it also means I can use my neglected hard and soft ware outside the testing).

Cheers,

Brian

RazoRock Plissoft 22mm
P & B Spitfire
ER !912 & Aluminium Handle
Gem S/S [ 3 ]
Pitralon Original A/S Lotion

Had a rare Shave with an ER 1912 , I normally use a Streamline or 1924 as I find that for me they work better on the upper lip and around the chin. However, it was a pretty good Shave, putting some of the modern SE/ Gem to Shame.

When using the UK 1912s I tend to use those with an Aluminium handle rather than the standard ones. The Handle on Todays Razor seems to be a variation of the one that is fitted to a Bathroom Set, a loose one of those being shown next to todays Razor.

Thursday...

OSP Barbershop
Semogue 1470
Face lather
Feather Artist Club SS
Feather Professional
Alum block (what's left of it)
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Floïd Mentally Vigorous

I had a belter of a shave with the non-folding fellow this morning. A leisurely approach has left me BBS where I need to be. Using shorter, more frequent strokes works far better than longer ones with the straight.

The Barbershop soap is, like the other OSP soaps in my collection, an outstanding performer. Plenty of cushion, glide and protection from what is a bloody sharp blade. A slight zing from the alum; but healthily so.

And, of course, a liberal splash of the MV. Sublime and cool.

I like the Bathroom Set, Mike. Light, but a nice grippy handle. Easy to control.
