SOTD : Saturday 10th February - Friday 16th February 2018.

Greetings

Monday 12th February 2018
Prep: Shower
Razor: Muhle R41 (2013)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge
Brush: Muhle XL Synthetic
Soap: Tabac
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDT: Lapidus Pour Homme

Whilst I am only a moderate fan of DE razors in general I am having a bit of a love affair with this 'New' model R41, it does seem to give me such a super close shave with the minimum of touching up being required.

I am so out of date with the more recent 'in vogue' DE blades that I am trying several different types and have ordered a mixed selection of what appears to be (from these pages) the latest favourites, although there does seem to be an element of fashion in razor blade usage and I do wonder if they are much (if any) better than the popular blades of five or six years ago.

Regards
Dick.

Hi @Norfolkdick , I can highly recommend a Feather blade in this razor. If you have not yet tried one & it hasn't been included in your 'mixed selection', PM me & I'll send one over to you.
Cheers

Simpsons Milk Churn Best Badger
Yaqi Double Open Comb
Shark Super Chrome (1)
Vitos Red
Thayers Rose, Myrsol Emulsion & Hai Karate

First use of a Shark Super Chrome, not bad at all. If I remember I am not a huge fan of the other type of Shark blades. Very nice lather with the Vitos and the Milk Churn.

Blade: Astra SP #1
Razor: Fatipe Piccolo
Brush: Maseto 30mm finest Bee Hive
Soap: Razorock Plague Doctor
Post: ABC aftershave milk
EDC: Dior Fahrenheit

Its been a long time since I used the Piccolo and I really do not know why after that shave. A fab well balanced little shaver that punches well above it's weight.
Two passes and a couple of touch up was all that was required for a smooth irritation free shave.

The Maseto has superb backbone while retaining soft tips and distributes soap perfectly.

The soap required considerable dialling before it began to work as I held too much water in the brush. After reloading it was much better although I would of liked more scent.

Overall a great shave.

Enjoy yours! :)

Boots Bay Rum Aftershave

A comfortable two pass shave after my post work hot bath.
I really like the Bay Rum soap scent. It's fast becoming my favourite.
I tried the Boots Bay Rum Aftershave for the first time today. The scent is pretty close to that of the soap, as mentioned by @Benz3ne. It doesn't seem to be very hydrating like Proraso and some others but it smells good.

Hint: it's not very hydrating! It's actually marketed as a hair tonic or similar iirc. Chuck in a few dribbles of glycerin and some argan or castor oil and it should make it feel great on skin! :D

Gem Natural Angle/Flat Head Top

Bliss. The Gem's an easy wee razor and incredibly comfortable to use. Great performance from the Whitechapel. I've taken a leaf from @Kevy by leaving the soap that I've squidged from the brush and massaged into my face in situ, while I tidy up. It really seems to enhance the post-shave feel; especially with tallow based soaps.
