Best shave I've had with a straight razor yet. Just shows how perseverance can work wonders. Added an ATG pass which helps get much better results on neck.

Soho Joe Original Face Wash
JR168 tuxedo synthetic
Tabac Soap
Grah and Plumacher, The GOTTA
A little alum, and
Pinaud Clubman Aftershave Lotion

Prep: Shower, L'Oreal for Men Birch Sap face wash.

Pre shave: TOBS Sandalwood Pre-shave Oil.

Soap: TOBS Sandalwood Herbal Soap.

Brush: TOBS Pure Badger.

Razor: Ever Ready 1912 SE.

Blade: Personna GEM SS

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Nivea After Shave Balm.

Despite the plethora of soaps, creams etc TOBS Sandalwood remains one of my firm favourites. Whether face or bowl lathering the performance in every department is faultless, in my eyes anyway. The cream is equally as good and maybe a tad more fragrant, the post shave feel superb. The brush compliments the soap perfectly, though sometimes needs a bit of effort is needed to get the required results which I actually like, I don't like things to be too easy! The ER 1912 is by far my favourite razor. Once again a beautiful BBS shave with no nicks or cuts and zero irritation with minimum effort. A most enjoyable shave indeed.

First time using the Timeless Bronze OC and all I can say is wow! Cracking shave on the first go and if you like your razors on the hefty side, you'll like this one.

Definitely the nicest looking razor in my collection right now. Looking forward to mastering it!

That's one nice looking razor @Nosdoh. How do you find the Semogue 1470?

Really enjoy your writing Iain....Letters from America comes to mind. Perhaps you could do a Shaving North of Hadrian's Wall type thingie?

Thanks B. - interesting idea - might end up a bit samey? - Day one in Grannies' Heilan Hame shave den - it's pissing down - day two - oh god - it's raining on a biblical scale - I've just seen Noah heading to B&Q and the yacht chandlers - day three - it's hootering down - day four - merely dreich. Break out the deck chairs - day five - a bit smirry. The Romans had the right idea - build a couple of walls and then bugger off in short order. Ha ha - yours - I.

Cream: Muhle Aloe Vera
Brush: Muhle Black Fibre 21 mm
Razor: Dovo Shavette

An all German affair this morning. Cream: good stuff. Brush: small but ok knot with a crappy handle due to lack of a waterproof finish. Shavette: time for a new blade, old is maybe still plenty sharp but 1-2-3 switch no questions asked is the rule.

Soap: Phoenix and Beau Sanskrit
Razor: R89
Blade: Sputnik (3)
Brush: Erasmic

Another soap sample, another face lather. There seems to be less lather than with the Nanny's yesterday, but I think I put less soap on my face in the first place, and what there is seems very slick. I would never have picked this soap based on the description, but it smells fantastic.

My initial plan on receiving the Newbie box was to use the R89 until today, then move onto the Futur clone, but I'm just getting the hang of it. I don't want to give it up yet!

All in all, a lovely shave.
