Greetings,

Another early morning start for me,last saturday that i have to work for a while..:)

A new shave set up to start the weekend, it's a welcoming return of my parker 87r razor after been out on loan for over a year..this indian princess is the smallest of all my parker razors, but it's still got a good heft & balance to it and performs with non-aggressive, but efficient smoothness, like all of my parker razor i use a slightly steeper shaving angle that gives a dfs..

I mentioned i was going to match her up with the gillette ws saloon pack blade, as they pair excellently with my 3 piece parker's the verdict is still the same..a superb match, smooth sharp and efficient.

My little indian lady has been too long in shaving exile..welcome back home princess...

Second outing of the Nivea men shave stick and it provided me with a nice slick protective lather fo shave, i was tempted to cut a disc off the stick and use my usual bowl lather method, but i applied the stick dry to my wet face the result was a superb performance, just like the Nivea men shaving creams give, adding a nice post shave feeling to my face.

A very comfortable 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of arko ~ cool cologne.

My face is feeling cool, super smooth & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy the start of the weekend, ladies & gentlemen.

Greetings

Saturday 12th May 2018
Prep: Shower
Razor: L'Essor
Blade: Heljestrand
Brush: APShave Co. SynBad
Soap: Tabac
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDC: Penhaligon's Endymion

Another shave with the SynBad brush and this morning I tested it against the Tuxedo knot from the same supplier by using both brushes for the same shave. There is no question that the SynBad knot splays easier than the Tuxedo but less so than the Cashmere knot which I also have from APShave Co. To be quite fair this is precisely what the supplier states on his website!

This morning I am trying Penhaligon's Endymion, another EDC, I find it a pleasant 'ordinary' EDC, I only applied it about 45 minutes ago and it is already fading very rapidly.

Regards
Dick.

Well the weekend got off to very smooth start.
Having shaved less than 24hrs ago the Pushbutton gave a DFS+ in two passes. Scentwise the Fine Platinum and Floid Black complement each other wonderfully.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I haven't been around for a week now ...due to IT restrictions. 2 weeks ago we welcomed a new puppy (Poppy) to the family. She likes to chew:(While I was wording a horrendous shift last Saturday...my 2 legged nearest and dearest pulled all the router and computer cables and trashed the wired network in the house. I have been restricted to my phone and a tablet for a number of days. Shallow person that I am....I let her endure a mobile network for a few days before I reconnected the wifi. I have just wired up a Raspberry Pi while she is away on a girlie weekend.....so hopefully all will be 'sweetness and light' when she returns.

Today's shave was the beginning of my 'Beer and Burger' weekend.
3 close and smooth passes for a super BBS Shave:)

Have a good day....and take care this evening....its Eurovision. I worked one a few years back....the worst night I have ever seen for ODs......I can only guess why!

Saturday

Phoenix and Beau Spitfire
RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth.
Face lather
ER 1914
Gem SS PTFE with a rubber band shim
Thayer’s Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Fine Platinum after shave

I was reading @riverrun ’s thread on rubber band shimming (under the SE forum) and found that my 1914 was suffering from a slight bit of blade chatter/movement. Not enough to completely spoil the shave; but I did need to flatten the angle, especially ATG.

So, if anyone wants to have a look at my contribution on that thread, I was inspired by one contributor’s suggestion to use ‘loom bands’; and put a couple on my Gem blade (dayglo green, as you can see lol). It reduced movement significantly. But, as I said yesterday, the acid test would be an SOTD. That transpired today.

What a difference. No chatter, or movement that I could discern: nor was there any need to change angle. So, a great 3 pass result, smooth as you like and to quote @Fergiebilly , I’m shining like a guardsman’s freshly bulled boot.

For what it’s worth, I really endorse this shimming method if you have similar blade movement in the older members of the ER family.

Other components - soap, brush and after shave - all perfectly harmonious.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

Stephen.
