I haven't been around for a week now ...due to IT restrictions. 2 weeks ago we welcomed a new puppy (Poppy) to the family. She likes to chew:(While I was wording a horrendous shift last Saturday...my 2 legged nearest and dearest pulled all the router and computer cables and trashed the wired network in the house. I have been restricted to my phone and a tablet for a number of days. Shallow person that I am....I let her endure a mobile network for a few days before I reconnected the wifi. I have just wired up a Raspberry Pi while she is away on a girlie weekend.....so hopefully all will be 'sweetness and light' when she returns.

Today's shave was the beginning of my 'Beer and Burger' weekend.
3 close and smooth passes for a super BBS Shave:)

Have a good day....and take care this evening....its Eurovision. I worked one a few years back....the worst night I have ever seen for ODs......I can only guess why!

Saturday

Phoenix and Beau Spitfire
RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth.
Face lather
ER 1914
Gem SS PTFE with a rubber band shim
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Fine Platinum after shave

I was reading @riverrun 's thread on rubber band shimming (under the SE forum) and found that my 1914 was suffering from a slight bit of blade chatter/movement. Not enough to completely spoil the shave; but I did need to flatten the angle, especially ATG.

So, if anyone wants to have a look at my contribution on that thread, I was inspired by one contributor's suggestion to use ‘loom bands'; and put a couple on my Gem blade (dayglo green, as you can see lol). It reduced movement significantly. But, as I said yesterday, the acid test would be an SOTD. That transpired today.

What a difference. No chatter, or movement that I could discern: nor was there any need to change angle. So, a great 3 pass result, smooth as you like and to quote @Fergiebilly , I'm shining like a guardsman's freshly bulled boot.

For what it's worth, I really endorse this shimming method if you have similar blade movement in the older members of the ER family.

Other components - soap, brush and after shave - all perfectly harmonious.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

Stephen.

Enjoyable Saturday morning shave, first time with the Mitchell's Wool Fat
I wasn't disappointed, wiped up a good head of lather, very slick with good protection, really like the soap.

Wonderful SOTD & first use of Tabac...love it. FarBoy (6-4-4). Astra SP #4. 30mm Tuxedo Set in a Giles Shaving Co pottery handle @Roscotanna

Nice shaving set-up,+1 on the Tabac debut..classic stuff.;)..a very love/hate opinion on its fragrance amongst forum members, i personally love it!..the performance of the soap is outstanding...on equal par to MWF AKA "The FAT".:)

Saturday 12th May
Zenith 506U TS
OSP Spice Road
‘American Model' Lather Catcher
C.V. Heljestrand wedge
Alum Wash
Old Spice Original A/S
Dove Instant Hydration Cream

When I first had a shave with a 1912, I thought shaves couldn't get any better....... Boy, was I so wrong!

This lather catcher coupled with a C.V. Heljestrand wedge blade, honed by our very own @Fergiebilly has produced a stunningly close shave. I found the angle easily, and what an ultra smooth result.

Honestly, to quote the ad, 'I feel epic'.

Pre: Glyce Lime
Soap: Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Brush: The Personal Barber synthetic
Blade: Feather
Post: Nivea 2 Phase Aftershave / Bart's Balms Rosemary and Sandlewood lotion

Not the greatest today, the Feather felt a bit like it was tugging despite it being a new blade. A little discomfort now as a result so I doubled up on the post shave. It is unusual for me to have issues with a feather blade, they are usually very comfortable to use.

Pre: Bulldog face wash and warm flannel
Brush: 24mm Yaqi Sagrada Familia synthetic
Soap: P & B Volupta
Razor: EJ89 with Muhle Hexagon handle
Blade: Nacet (1)
Post: Warm and cold rinse then Thayers unscented witch hazel
AS: Myrsol Agua De Limon

Nice relaxed shave this afternoon. Experimenting with the EJ89 head and different handle, although I don't think there is much weight difference between the Muhle hexagon and the standard EJ Lined one.... so may need to get hold of a more weighty one to properly test it.
First use of the Myrsol today, reminded me of sherbet lemons!
Off to lie on the sofa with SWMBO and have an afternoon nap in prep for Eurovision tonight, enjoy your afternoons / evenings gents
