Second use of LPL Cedar & Patchouli, performance is spot on but the scent is quite pungent - Reckon I smell like this guy...

First use of a BIC 1 Sensitive disposable... I'm shocked, truly shocked. I got a BBS shave in three passes with no irritation whatsoever, they are light and maneuverable, didn't clog and though not super sharp it was sharper than some DE blades I've used.

To borrow an Americanism, its thrown me a curveball... I'm not sure what to make of anything anymore, it was that good o_O

Evening shave.

BBA Face Wash
Extro Miele
Semogue Owners Club Cherry Boar
Little Wren Pottery
Gibbs No.15 (on loan)
Astra SP (2)
Pitralon Classic Aftershave

I knew that I shouldn't have borrowed the Gibbs. I want one. But if I'm going to stick to my resolution then I can't have one for a year. I notched it up to setting 4 today and it was just perfect. Top marks for the Extro cream too. A thick, creamy lather with plenty of slickness. That in conjunction with the excellent Pitralon has resulted in a lovely post-shave feel. It must be the honey and royal jelly. A first-rate shave. I hope you have a good week chaps.

Edwin Jagger Pre Shave
The Personal Barber synthetic brush
Edwin Jagger DE89
Treet Black
Old Spice shave cream
Bluebeards Revenge aftershave balm
Old Spice Bearglove aftershave

An okay shave, thinking that the treet blacks may not be agreeing with me. I only have a few left though so no major loss if I need to stop using them.

I use these on holiday and they give a decent shave. I only use them once .

Sunday evening (speaking of Palmolive)

Soap - Palmolive Stick
Brush - RazoRock BC
Face lather
Razor - Fa Tip Piccolo
Blade - Gillette Nacet #4
Post - Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
After shave - Proraso M&E

For 49/50p, you really can't beat the Palmolive. A quick rub of the wet soap over wet bristles gave a foundation for a tremendous amount of lather. Rich, thick and protective; with a lovely post shave feel. The Fa Tip does what it does best: delivered efficient and smooth results.

Nice to get back to the basics now and again.

Pre: DR Harris Coconut shampoo bar, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Semogue Owners Club Boar
Soap: De Vergulde Hand
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: Vintage Polsilver (3)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
EdC: DR Harris Arlington

Shameless re-post of previous photo, as I'm still at the Mine site Camp with the same line-up.
Cyclone has passed through - now a balmy 40C, with the unfortunate effect of the recent cyclonic rainfall being almost 100% humidity.
It has been interesting face-lathering for a few days - I'm finding the De Vergulde Hand soap is a little thirsty, so need to take the time to get the lather consistency correct.
Pretty happy with the shaves I'm getting.

I decided to try out a number of new (to me) products I purchased on the BST and the January Sales for the first time yesterday and also re-visited some of them this evening.

First up was the Murdock Sandalwood Rose soap and Razorock Aluminium 400 brush. The brush feels great in the hand and the soap scent is gorgeous. It smells very similar to Scheermonnik Soek and Reef Point Dragons Blood, which is a good thing in my book. Unfortunately, the performance was abysmal. [emoji853]

The first lather with the Razorock was light and airy and collapsed very quickly with very little cushion or slickness. I tried it again today with a brush I know can get the best out of any soap, my Shavemac Colonia No. 1 D01 3-band and the results were very similar.

In a word, the soaps a dud. It's ingredient list suggests that it would be better as a general soap and this is where this soap shines.

Thankfully, I didn't pay the list price of £30 otherwise I'd be gutted. It cost me £9 on the sale and for that I've ended up with a really nice general use soap and a very well made wooden bowl. [emoji846]

I tried the Schick O Type clone out as well during both shaved (with a Schick B20 blade last night and a Personna blade tonight). This razor was more aggressive than I was expecting and I really enjoyed using it. I can see this having a regular place in me SE rotation.

Finally the Vitos Pre/Post Shave and the Myrsol Emulsion. I prefer using pre-shave oils to creams but thought I'd try the Vitos in the pre-shave role last night.

It was very reminiscent of Proraso Pre/Post Shave cream and whilst adequate in this role didn't leave my face feeling as well prepped as if I were using an oil. I used it post shave this evening and it felt much better in this role.

The Mysrol Emulsion was a revelation. I can't quite work out why I've tried this Balm before. It's amazing stuff and I really enjoyed using it.

The other products I used tonight were some Meissner Pre-Shave Oil and some Faena Beard Oil. I love these products. Both smell intoxicating and are extremely good 10/10 oils. I've used them before and it was great to find an excuse to use them again tonight. [emoji41]

Monday 15th January

Olive Oil Soap and RSC Facial Scrub
Proraso Sensitive Preshave Cream
Palmolive Classic Shaving Cream
Yaqi Synthetic Marbled Barber Brush
Muhle R41 (2011) with a Gillette Super Thin
Alum Block and Rinse
Lacura Moisturiser
Blue Stratos AS

Back on to the R41 training. Yesterday's shave was so good.....I was back to a super smooth face with 1 complete pass and a touch up. I am afraid I broke all the rules and started with an ATG.....but it worked. I must be getting the hang of it as there was no post shave alum sting:)

Greetings All,

Monday shave

Two day growth and warm shave

Preparation – Showered then face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Soap: Molton Brown Shaving Soap
Razor: Rockwell 6C (4P)
Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (1st)
Brush: RazoRock 400 (face lather)
Post Shave: Hot then cold water rinse, Alum Nivea 2 Phase followed by Proraso AS (Red).

Perma-Sharp Super Test
Day 1

Currently the running order for my blades are:
  1. Shark SS
  2. Gillette Nacet
  3. Astra SP
This morning was the Perma-Sharp Super blade's turn. First off, this blade felt a touch sharper than the Gillette Nacet and the Astra SP. It did not feel as smooth as the aforementioned blades and did leave little (very little) irritation on my neck. This does remind me of the Vokshod blade, which, for me, takes a shave to ‘break in'. However, the shave itself was lovely. BBS without any pickups and for me (that's) darn good going. My cheeks are the area I may have a few whiskers remaining but not today. Overall, very impressed.

Cheers,

Brian
