SOTD: Saturday 13th January - Friday 19th January 2018.

Thanks! The handle was supposedly made by @RedHorseman. (I've contacted him to ask, but haven't heard back yet.) It's surprisingly comfortable to hold, too, once you get used to gripping it at the very end.
Sorry i dodnt come on here very often anymore, busy life. Yes it is one of my handles.

Prep ~ Shower, Birch Tar Soap
Razor ~ Tartara Masamune (Open Comb)
Blade ~ Lodz Poland Polsilver Stainless
Soap ~ Haslinger Sheep's Milk Soap (Tallow)
Brush ~ Omega Boar 011829
Post ~ Thayers Rose Petal
Scent ~ Serge Lutens - Chergui

A good close shave from the OC razor and blade no doubt helped along by the outstanding Haslinger Soap. (Tallow)
A mistake in my opinion to change what is a good and well regarded soap to tallow free! I'm sure I'm not the only customer that Haslinger will lose!!!

Have a great weekend people.

Saturday

Soap - P&B Whitechapel
Brush - RazoRock Plissoft 24mm
Face lather
Razor - Feather Artist Club SS
Blade - Feather Professional
Post - Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
After shave - BBA balm

I definitely think my AC performs better with a tallowy soap; maybe it's in my head though. 3 passes and a bit buffing under the chin and I'm as smooth as I need. One slight nick that the combination of alum, witch hazel and BBA balm took care of. That balm is great stuff!!

NB...some brushes on offer in BST, if anyone's interested.

Today's shave wasn't exactly one I'd associate with this fine forum and I do hope I am not sullying my reputation here with the following shave.

I'm trying to test out some bits and pieces which are intended for my nephew who's just started shaving. His first shave was a Gillette Profusion something something and the nasty blue Gillette Gel, that came courtesy of his father/my brother in law. Even though I think a DE/brush & soap would be the superior choice I can't see it happening, so I will give somethings which I think might be a bit better suited for my nephew that what is currently using.

13/1/18

Pre - RSC Facial Scrub
Soap - Nivea Sensitive Foam
Razor - Gillette Guard (1)
Passes - 1 x WTG, 1x ATG
Post - Alum/Nivea Balm
AS - Ayup Sabri Tobacco Cologne

It seems the multi blade razor is king right now, with seemingly very few options for single edged razors be it disposables or cartridges with the Gillette Guard being one of the few around and one with a good reputation as well. It seemed fairly sharp in use, possibly not the smoothest though. It did a reasonable job for the first pass, but a second pass was needed and the results are pretty good. I managed to nick myself on the chin a few times, and the alum was needed.

The Nivea Sensitive Foam felt reasonable on the face - possibly a touch drying but it made me appreciate how wonderfully slick and conditioning some of my favourite soaps are.

Aside from a bit of post shave dryness the shave itself was pretty good and I was reasonably impressed with the Gillette Guard, but less so with the canned foam. I may see if there are any alternative options which may suit a beginner shaver.

Maseto Memphis 2 Band Finest
iKon 102
Astra Superior Stainless (3)
Stirling Soaps Stirling Blu
Thayers Rose, Nivea Balm & Ralph Lauren Polo Blue

A great shave today, one of my best with the 102. A single nick right at the end, my fault but otherwise perfect. The Astra SS is a nice blade, a rung above the SP in my opinion, having now finally used both.

You could still use the razor, but how about a really nice brush and cream. Maybe a cream with a cool sounding name which would appeal to the nephew, like Bluebearďs revenge if this is still sround. Or perhaps Meißner whiskey scented soap. Just an idea.

Prep: Hot towel
Pre shave: Prep
Razor: Barbaros TR-1
Blade: Astra S/P
Brush: 'The Duke' (Duke 3 Best)
Soap: Grooming Dept: Mallard
Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / Tallow + Steel: Dark Aftershave

Well, Mallard lived up to the hype, and provided the base for an outstanding shave with the TR-1, a razor that I find to be on the aggressive side of the tracks... BBS, and feeling fine.
