OSP Bay Rum
Shavette/Nacet
YaQi 2-band Fan

Another very good shave with the cheaper-than-cheap shavette. One pass and a few touch-ups and I'm smooth. OSP performed sublimely as to be anticipated.

Who's next?!

Who's next? Fancy a sample of Australian Private Reserve soap and splash?

Take your pick

The Santal
Coeur De Vert
Lixiviant
Coolabah
Australians All

Sunday evening

Valobra stick
RazoRock BC Silvertip 24mm synth.
Face lather
Feather Artist Club SS
Feather Professional
Alum
Thayer Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Pitralon Classic after shave

All good. It might be coincidence or improvement in technique, but I find that tallow-based soaps always bring out the best in the SS shaves. Not decrying non-tallow ones, you understand.

@ Benz3ne
As you can see on this pic the blade holder on the Dovo has got a protruding bulb protecting the blade end. I think this is to make it safer in use. How about the shavette you are using is it open with a bare blade at the top end? Have you got any thoughts on this design and risk for cuts/stabbings?

Shave of the Day 18 March 2018 :)

Pre-shave - Warm shower, face wash Musgo Real Classic Glycerin Oil Soap, followed by warm water splash.
Soap - Wickham Soap Co. 1912 Buddha Wood.
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic.
Bowl - Little Wren Pottery.
Razor - Colonial The General SS.
Blade - Proline P-30 (day 5).
Post shave - Myrsol After Shave Balsamic Water, followed by Buddha Wood Soothing Post Shave Balm.

A very relaxed, slow Sunday shave; decided to go for the Buddha wood, as I love the scent and I find it has good protective qualities - leaving my skin nice and soft after the shave. It was raw today, biting easterly wind, so decided to go with some after shave balm to hydrate the skin - all good :)

A 2 pass shave, WTG and XTG, face - with WTG and ATG on the neck. I find it that the 1912 Wickham's soaps always lather up a treat - I left the soap to bloom a little longer than normal and boy did the soap almost expload when I started to load-up the brush.

My skin still feels soft and supple, I'm putting that down to a combination of the lather and the Myrsol Balsamic water - which has rapidly become my favourite Myrsol, overtaking the Lemon.

Tomorrow will be the last SE shave until Sunday - off on a short city break to Berlin with SWMBO on Tuesday; carry on luggage only; have packed my iKon 101 and will buy some DE blades over there :)

A trip to the Muhle shop in Berlin is on the cards!

All the best,

Chris

Razor: Q-shave Futur clone
Blade: Sputnik(1)
Brush: Body shop synthetic
Soap: Cella

As I enter my final few days with the Newbie box, since I'm starting with a new razor I return to the Cella as some kind of baseline. I also return to the synthetic brush so I can be sure everything will be dry before I have to package it all back up.

I start with the razor on '2', and manage not to slice myself up on the first half of my face, so cautiously dial it up to 3. This is the satin finish, and I notice that the razor is very 'grabby' on the face without lather - not great for touch-ups. If I were to get one of these for myself, I'd probably go for the chrome finish. I thought I'd got a lovely fuss-free shave with minimal effort, but just noticed a small nick on my chin I'd overlooked at the time. I do like Sputniks, but they do start out sharp!
