Sotd - Wednesday 22/11 -

Razor - Schick Type O clone
blade - mystery vintage single (2)
brush - Semogue 2015 HD
soap - SV Tundra Artica
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea 2 phase
balm - none, didn't need it.

Result - magnificent.

In part this shave was about what I didn't use - I have next to me as I type an astonishingly beautiful 1912 'Made in England' version - thanks P. In its Bakelite case. Pristine. I was kindly gifted earlier this year an American 1912 by @Wayne Pritchard and it proved to be my 'gateway drug' into vintage single edges. They are very good for me. I thought I would try a bit of delayed gratification - something I'm ordinarily very poor at achieving - and use my Type O clone again - which is also new, the second shave with it - I wanted to see what would happen with a heavier growth - 4 days. Just the same as last time - very mild in use but extremely effective. A wee bit of polishing after the second pass but it's so comfortable to use that it didn't irritate my skin whatsoever. I think you would have to be massively clumsy to draw blood with it. The brush was my first silver tip - it amuses me these days about the HD bit in it's name - high density. Oh really? Compared to a Maseto 30mm or Chubby - I think not. I still enjoy using it when in the mood for a floppy wall of super soft badger hair though. A bit of nostalgia too. I'd forgotten how good the SV soap is - I reached for it again as I was having trouble coming up with my hard soap of the year. I wanted to revisit this and a Wickam's 1912 before voting. Tabac and O.S.P were the obvious front runners for me. The post shave feel of the SV is really top end - paired with the Nivea 2 phase I really really didn't need a balm. So - top end shave - count me as a happy bunny. Smoother than a Neolithic obsidian hand axe - originally fashioned by a Pre-Columbian shaman - used in their smooth initiation rituals and passed down through the generations. Yours all - I.

Thank you for the tag Iain.

I am so pleased you are hooked on the vintage drug.
Better than any synthetic that I have ever experienced anyway. ;)

For me the S.V soap is above and beyond anything I have tried. I must confess that there is many on my list to try including Eufro's and Stirling but at this moment in time the S.V. is unbelievable. P.S. lets not forget P&B, NNS, Wickhams .
Oh dear lord when does this all end ?

I love the Klar soaps in their small tubs but as you say lathering from such a small tub is not ideal so I use a sharp pen knife and scrape waffer thin slithers from the top of the cake / puck into my lathering bowl and add a couple of drops of hot water to bloom and then lather up with a boar brush, works a treat. :) P.
Same here you only need a tiny amount:)

Greetings All,

Thursday shave.

One growth and warm shave

Preparation – Showered then face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: None
Soap: Razorock X
Razor: Rockwell 6C (4P)
Blade: Shark SS (5th)
Brush: Razorock 400 (face lather)

Post Shave: Hot then cold water rinse, Nivea 2 Phase then Wickham 1912 Magnum aftershave balm (sample).

Again, very comfortable, easy and relaxing 3 pass shave – great way to start the day. Really loaded the Razorock X into my brush and produced an excellent lather (being patient loading water), which I also think has a very pleasant scent. The Shark blaze swept away the whiskers and no issues.

Cheers,

Brian

Greetings,
The Parker 92R / Gillette W.S.saloon Pack Blade combo was a perfect match, one of the best i've had to date with the 92R, resulting in a 3 pass + pick up Silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

As always, the Nivea Men shaving products made the shave very pleasurable, the 2 Phase aftershave has the equal quality as the Proraso Green A/S.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

finally finished the Kent soap after 4 months of use so have moved onto Wickham Dandyism supersoft V1. am always impressed by Darron's soap when i have had a break from them so i will enjoy using this 60g over the next few months.

used gillette guard, 404 bodger and boots a/s. have found the a/s pairs excellently with Aramis Calligraphy Rose.

Menthol!

Rockwell 6C (#5)
Gillette Nacet (#1)
Midas Synthetic
Stirling Lemon Chill

Fancied a bit of a face-freeze today so cracked out the breeze-block that is my tub of lemon chill. It's a regular tub with more added, both of the 'newer' formula so no issues whatsoever regarding lather. Two good passes with the 6C and I'm ready for the day ahead. I think it'll be a while before I finish this tub...

Have a good day, chaps!

Do you ever have one of those days, where everything goes wrong?

I've been using the same brush & soap all week with great results... Today? I lathered up using exactly the same method and for whatever reason the resulting lather was a thin bubbly mess, no problem wash it away and start again... Exactly the same result. So I'm cursing the boar, go and grab a Maseto finest badger and build another lather from scratch... Same result, thin bubbly, useless and by this point my face is starting to burn (benzaldehyde exposure I guess?) I'm starting to get my hair off now, go grab a stick of Valobra and start again from scratch... Finally! A good lather! But the boar brush eats it between passes so I have to start from scratch.... It took 5 passes with the 34c to get BBS and the aftershave stang like a bitch

I now feel sore, physically and mentally :D
