Greetings,

Today i've went for a humble 'Old School' shave set up ,when i mention to family and friends that 'I still wear brut', i get some interesting looks and comments...Not that i'm bothered, because the younger chaps that i work with don't understand the greatness of Brut which is a pity, but it's their loss if they can't appreciate a classic 'Old School' fragrance.

The Parker 98R is an efficient razor today it performed superbly,i can't believe the Palmolive Men 'Classic' Shave Cream hasn't ran out,i bought it in May 2016!..i can still get at least another 3-4 shaves from the tube..incredible value for money..

A wonderful 3 pass + pick ups shave with no errors to report.

My face is feeling ultra smooth & smelling very 'Old School' devine.;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

Greetings All,

Thursday shave.

One days' growth and warm shave

Preparation – face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: None
Soap: Cella
Razor: Rockwell 6C (3P)
Blade: Polsilver (2nd)
Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir (face lathering)

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Alum, re-rinse, then a shower and to conclude Proraso aftershave lotion (red) and Nivea 2 Phase.

First 2 passes (WTG and XTG) were fun and not an issue. Then I did my usual third pass. I do know, if it was adding a little more water to the lather (it had been wonderful up to this point) but it seemed to get very cloggy and the slickness disappeared – Odd. Ended up with a few weepers - Alum cleared those up and ended relatively smooth.

Cheers,

Brian

Each razor was loaded with a shimmed blade, each with a shave under its belt. I was going to fit the Dammo with a 1914 handle but decided, it would only be a fair comparison if they were used as they were originally intended to be.
A two pass, wtg xtg, shave. Right side the Yankee Dammo, left side the British 1912.

After adjusting the shim on the 1912 and face lathering, a very smooth enjoyable shave was had.
Both razors are very efficient but on the xtg pass, the smoothness of the 1912 shone through.
In the balance of fair play, I pointlessly reached for the alum bar, not a sting to be felt on either side.

Slight victory to the British razor.

Thursday 31st August 2017
Prep: Shower
Razor: Gem Contour II
Blade: ER Corrux NOS (19)
Brush: EverShave Quarter Moon
Soap: Cyril Salter
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDP: Balenciaga

A reasonable shave from a very poor razor but only after endless touching up.

I very rarely take out this razor as it is (IMHO) the only dud that GEM manufactured in their entire history and the only GEM razor I have difficulty getting a decent shave from. Whilst the Contour is a mild razor, this model the Contour 2 (the very last made by GEM before the company ceased trading) is silly mild to the point where it barely cuts. This razor is milder than a Tech and super mild just does not work in SE razors designed for traditional style GEM blades as A.T.T. has just recently learned.

I do not have many SE razors left in my arsenal that will take this old blade, I wanted to try shaving with the blade in every single different SE razor I own that will take this blade without cutouts.

Regards
Dick.

I can't remember calling out the Tech in particular but I've tried Tech, New LC and Old style heads on longer heavier handles and all of them benefited from it. As you say it just seems to let you find the angle and the right pressure straight away. Fasan slant next though the head is so light I'm really not sure how it'll respond.
Are the Windrose handles compatible with the Techs, Guys? Thanks, S.
