Received the Wickham soap in a great trade with @Barry Giddens. And I'm mightily impressed. It's not the first time I've used the 1912 soap, but is in the large tub. The scent on the Classic 24 is sublime and the slickness and post shave is perfect. Damn it, another bloody rabbit hole.........

Glad you liked it Arthur. It's lovely stuff.

I started this morning with the Saiver, single blade this time --with its included shim -- and blood soon flowed from a number of locations. I said to myself, that ain't right (I'm quick). $.40 Gillette Super Click (Thai market) to the rescue. Two pass plus BBS all around. Tian Li.

Great Shave today very close always have a close shave with these shark blades they are super sharp for me I did read that someone didn't think these blades were sharp they must have stubble like the man of steel :D

Evening shave.

Nivea Face Wash, BBA Shave Oil.
Cella Crema Da Barba.
Maseto 30mm 2 Band Finest.
Little Wren Pottery.
Schick L1.
Japanese Schick Blade (1).
Proraso Green Aftershave.
BBA Post Shave Balm.

Another comfortable, close shave with the L1. First use of the Cella. Great lather. But what on earth do you match with that marzipan scent? Cella Aftershave I suppose.

hi mate the cella aftershave is great so is the post shave balm the scents are not an exact match with the cream but they still go great together I would definitely recommend them ;)

Pre Shave: Hot Shower + L'Oreal Pure Power Charcoal Face Wash and Proraso White
Razor: Rocnel SE-G (Pass around)
Blade: GEM PTFE (#1)
Brush: Vulfix 404
Cream: Crabtree & Evelyn Moroccan Myrrh
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Humphreys Witch Hazel
AS: Osma Balm

Fifth and final shave with the Rocnel SE-G, I put a fresh GEM blade in and I am pleased to report there were no injuries from the corners of the blade. I think you need to pay close attention to ensure the blade sits correctly in the head as the final tighten of the grub screw can move the blade sideways slightly which could leave one corner of the blade exposed. Once again only two passes needed.

No photo today as I already cleaned and boxed up the razor ready to post in the morning.

A big thankyou to @Paul and @riverrun for making this pass around possible. I have enjoyed using this razor very much but at the price it is not for me.

Sotd - Thursday 31-8

Razor - Mergress (3)
Blade - Gillette SB (2)
Brush - Maseto 24mm two band
Soap - Nivea Original Cream
Post - Witch hazel
A/S - Nivea Sensitive Cool alcohol free
Balm - Nivea Sensitive Cool.

Result - great - a shave out of the blue. Round four of only using common or garden products as an experiment. I went raking about the back of the den to find stuff that is usually not on the top deck. I found an unopened tube of the Nivea cream. Initially I was at a loss as to where it came from. Observing that the entire packaging and labeling were in Spanish and Portuguese - I remembered - I was in El Cortes Ingles in Madrid picking up some stuff for myself and shave buddies. The woman that served me was sufficiently interested in my shopping to talk to me - thankfully my appalling Spanish was good enough to understand her and speak back in a vaguely understandable manner. I had the usual armful of Lea, La Toja and Floid but she suggested the Nivea cream. Her husband was a straight razor user and this is what he used every day she explained.

What a good recommendation. I had very little expectation of this shave but it turned out top end. The cream lathered a treat - it left my skin a wee bit dry - but that happens with any soap I use that is not tallow based. Not a problem if you are going to do a decent post-shave treatment. Alcohol free after-shave - meh. The balm worked well. Job done - my skin feels great - not a mark on it and super clean. The Mergress was just as magnificent on its second outing. Recently I find myself reaching for the Maseto 24mm without thinking. Enjoy your shaves - yours - I.
