Saponificio Bignoli Agrumi del Mediterraneo ~ Zenith Boar ~ Fatip Grande ~ Nacet ~ Meissner Tremonia Indian Flavour ~ Floris Jermyn St. EdP

Rob @Blackmass kindly sent me some samples which arrived in time for my SOTD earlier.

Saponificio Bignoli... Its dense in texture, similar to the 3 T's, the scent prior to lathering is a subdued citrus with creamy undertones, to me it smelt entirely edible and not far off a lemon panna cotta. It lathered very easily as you would expect, wasnt too fussy regarding water content, I couldn't saturate it like a top soap but the resultant lather was perfectly good enough. In use I found it less slick than Salter and less dense/cushioning than Truefitt or Trumper, its a lightweight lather closer to what I'd expect of Proraso or Ach Brito... Seems to just be the way Med creams are. Once lathered the scent comes to life, entirely gone is the creaminess as sharp grapefruit and bergamot take over, amongst other things... Its basically a pleasant Italian fruit salad, no attempts at perfumery here, just a good honest fruit themed scent. I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm slightly allergic to citrus oils as I had exactly the same reaction with this as Extro Positano, by the second pass my face was tingling and by the 3rd pass it was positively burning :( I cant really judge the post shave qualities as my face was so irritated, all I can say is for me, it was quite drying.

Thanks to Rob for giving me the opportunity to try it, unfortunately its not a winner for me... Pleasant but doesnt justify the price from a performance POV.

My final shave with the SE1 Calypso and another very enjoyable shave it was. This razor was made for the Pro Super blade imo and I will miss it.
Thanks again @Barry Giddens for the opportunity, she's a beauty and a great shaver to boot.
Happy Shaving one and all

Karve F Plate
Feather
Simpson CH2 Synthetic
Pré de Provence Soap
and Aftershave Balm

Greetings

I've just noticed that you own and have used both the E and F plates for this razor: I'd love to hear your thoughts as to how these two plates perform; in relation to each other and in comparison to other razors that you consider the shave is broadly similar to.

Regards
Dick.

Tabac
YaqI 24mm Tuxedo Marble Handle
Rockwell 6C R3
Astra SP (2)
Quorum Aftershave

Cold water shave with Tabac. . Simply divine
This soap seems to glisten like no other soap I've used. It almost sparkles.
Excellent protective lather was easily produced by the YaqI Synthetic.
All signs of whiskers effectively removed in comfort by the Rockwell/Astra combo.
Finished with Quorum. Quite a good match for the soap.
