SOTD : Saturday 2nd June - Friday 8th June 2018

Tuesday

Phoenix and Beau Denali (sample)
Semogue 1460
Face lather
Merkur 34c
Sputnik Teflon Coated
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Alcolado Glacial splash

A sunny and (at time of writing) rather warm Edinburgh prompted me towards a menthol experiment. I opted for a two-pass routine today; as yesterday's 1912 shave didn't leave enough for a three-pass fellow, especially with the relatively tame Merkur.

The Denali and Glacial have left me cooler than a cool thing. @Barry Giddens and @Digimonkey , the samples you both kindly sent over are still going strong; kindest thanks again, chaps.

You're very welcome Stephen.

Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Gillette Rocket
Supermax Platinum (1)
Razor Master Pekka
Nivea 2 Phase & Davidoff Cool Water

A good shave in terms of razor and blade, smoth and comfortable, no issues at all. My lather was poor though, user error no doubt as this soap has been good stuff every other time I have used it. Very airy and dissipating. Oh well, it did the job but could have been better!

First ever go with an OC razor (finally succumbed to curiosity). I was fairly nervous about using it, and was a bit wary from the start. Prep went as well as normal, and I felt comforted knowing I had the fantastic Wickhams as my soap. Loaded a brand new Nacet into the Yaqi head and wetted the blade. Placed the head / blade against my face and began to shave..... slowly! The audible sound of this razor is completely different to my usual EJ89, amazing! I finished the first pass WTG and my face felt very smooth. I lathered up for a (brave) second pass, this time XTG W to E on my face (I left the neck at almost 1 pass for today). The feedback was very satisfying and I found it to be very 'efficient'. After finishing off with a third pass XTG on my face (E to W) either stupidity or curiosity got the better of me and I attempted a slight ATG pass on the bit just under my chin. I felt the blade a lot more on this part, and it felt a bit uncomfortable to start with. I was waiting for the claret to start running, but no, I didn't end up cutting myself at all - much to my surprise!
Rinsed off, Thayers applied. My face does feel a little more sore than usual, but I was expecting that. Finished off with 2 Phase, and now my face feels lovely, smooth and soft. I would say that this is one of the closest, smoothest shaves I have had so far. One thing I will try next time is the slightly longer, heavier Bulldog handle on the Yaqi head and see if this is any better as the standard handle did feel a little light.
Have a great afternoon and evening gents

Georgetown Pottery G12 scuttle
Rooney 1/3 Ebony Finest (26/52)
Floris JF shaving soap (tallow)
RazoRock Mamba/Triad Blue Aristocrat Titanium
Wilkinson Light Brigade (3)
Floris JF aftershave (vintage)

At times I like it but sometimes the Floris JF smells just a touch too youthful and "preppy" for an old guy like me. But the soap is wonderful.

Omega 11126
P & B Spitfire
Schick N1
Schick Proline ( 9 )
Pitralon Original A/S Lotion

Rather like yesterday a bit of a test for the blade, only this time I was using Schick N1 with a single blade. The Shave was smooth enough but as the blade had lost its edge the quality of finish was poor Still no blood spilt and have confirmed that in this Razor a Proline is OK for a max of 8 Shaves.

More than thirty hours of stubble stood no chance against the Clog Pruf and the combination of Solstice and Floid has left my skin soft and toned.
Happy Shaving one and all.

I couldn't recommend it high enough, it may be a problem if you don't like large handles but I find it to be a great brush

@Oomer - B. - I'd agree with what P. said. I've used mine about 6 or 7 times since getting it - and it's just getting better and better as it breaks in. It hasn't lost a singe hair - another advantage was that mine didn't smell terrible when it got wet for the first time - no need to shampoo it - just set to breaking it in the best way - by using it. Granted the handle is surprisingly large when you take it out the box - but because of the shape of it - you naturally grip it just below the knot where it narrows - its no problem - unless perhaps you had tiny, tiny hands - says he artfully moving on without breaking the forum rules. I would recommend this brush - if you like this style of knot - as someone else pointed out - if you stuck a more 'prestige' name on it - people would happily pay in excess of a hundred quid for it. Cheers - I.
