SOTD : Saturday 31st March - Friday 6th April 2018.

SOTD, Monday 02 April 2018

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap wash followed by warm water splash.
Cream - Speick Men.
Brush - Muhle Purist, Silvertip Fibre.
Bowl - Little Wren Pottery.
Razor - Rex Supply Co. Ambassador Adjustable DE Razor - setting 3.
Blade - Astra SP (Green) (day 3).
Post shave - Clinque Post Shave Balm, followed by Myrsol After Shave Balsamic Water.

Sunday's shave of the day was a divine, very lazy affair, late on in the afternoon with essentially the same set-up. A 3 pass shave with a BBS finish.

Today I only needed a 2 pass shave, the main change in today's recipe was shift from Murdock Avalon shave cream to the Speick. I cannot praise the Speick cream highly enough: highly protective, good glide and very cost effective 3.49 Euro (I picked up some in Berlin), the other week.

I am enjoying shaving again with a DE razor, having predominately shaved with SE razors for the last 6 - 7 months. I must try and shake up my shave rotation more. While I am enjoying the DE shaving I do notice that SE shaving is more efficient in terms of fewer passes are required.

I hope everyone has a good Easter Monday,

All the best,

Chris

Easter Sunday - 1st April
1924 Patent Anniversary
What happened was I planned to have an Easter day / 1924 patent celebration. So I took the shave picture.
In the meanwhile the pass around of Igor happened so I've been devoting all my shave time with him.
This is the Easter/Patent shave that nearly was.

The 1924 does suit the Streamline handle. Happy Easter and happy anniversary 1924.
Thanks to @riverrun for this link.

I must admit, I've made a Frankenrazor with a 1924 Head and the strop handle of my Streamline set. It really works quite well for me!

Easter Monday

OSP Fougére
RazoRock Plissoft 24mm
Face lather
Gem Heavy Flat Top
Gem Personna SS
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Pitralon Classic after shave

Efficient, comfortable and smooth shave today. I hadn't used this razor for a wee while and it worked beautifully with the OSP.

The notes in the Pitralon balance with those in the soap. I must get the Fougére splash from James. Out of the OSP soaps that I have, I think this one smells the best.

Monday.
Prep: Hot towel
Pre shave: Prep
Razor: Barbaros TR-1
Blade: Timor
Brush: 'The Archduke' (Brad Sears Archduke 26/50 2-Band Manchurian)
Soap: Lather Bros: Calle Ocho
Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / The Sudsy Soapery: Lavender & Peppermint Aftershave Splash
Fragrance: Bond No9 Harrods Amber

What an outstanding shave... the Timor proved to be very smooth with the TR-1, and 'The Archduke' was an excellent choice for the Calle Ocho, and whipped up a very slick, moist lather... I must admit, I'm really enjoying this brush at the moment...

Omega 011829
Schick Krona
Feather (2)
Haslinger Schafsmilch (tallow)
Alum Block, Nivea 2 Phase & Crabtree and Evelyn Hungary Water

For me this combination does not work at all, I loved Feathers in a Fat Boy and Mergress, terrible shave for me in the Krona, really gave me several nicks on my neck. I will try the blade in my Rockwell tomorrow for its last hurrah.

It's been a while since I used this soap, an old version containing tallow, I would be curious to see how the new tallow free version compares. I would say this is a less fussy Mitchells Wool Fat.
