Yaqi Alu Tux - Williams Mug Soap - Schick/Eversharp G1- Schick Proline B #2 - Alum - Rose of Bulgaria A/S - Dove Instant Hydration cream

The Williams soap is an enigma to me. It gives loads of lather, which disappears quicker than a toupee in a hurricane. Leaving little on the face losing some cushion. However remains very slick and the residual slickness is excellent. I just can't see me using it regularly.

I initially went off injectors after trying the L1 and unable to get a decent shave. But after a second great result from the G1 with a Proline blade, my mind has been totally swayed.

Moss Anniversary Slate scuttle
Rooney Stubby 3XXL Ivory Finest (33/52)
Crabtree & Evelyn for Men shaving soap (vintage)
Delta Echo Feather AS-D2/Wolfman Darwin
Wilkinson Light Brigade (9)
Lagerfeld Classic aftershave (vintage)
Floris Rose Geranium EdT (vintage)

Despite its knot size and density, this brush has relatively soft backbone and very soft tips. Surprisingly, the slender Darwin handle is not very slippery when it is wet, and it paired well with the Feather. And the light, "green" Floris, applied to pulse points, complements the complex Lagerfeld aftershave very nicely.

Tuesday 9th October PM

Pre-shave:- warm rinse and Proraso Red Pre Shave cream
Brush:- The Executive Shaving Company Medium Jock Synthetic
Soap/Cream:- Proraso Red soap
Razor/Blade:- Gillette Fatboy/Gillette 7 O'clock green (3)
Post-shave:- Thayers Witch Hazel Cucumber followed by Boots Freshwood aftershave then Boots Freshwood balm.

A quick shave this evening.

DE shaving was discussed between some of my friends today so I felt the need to shave this evening. Not sure my skin was quite ready but I persevered. By the end of the shave the blade was on its way out. Proraso Red soap isn't my favourite out of the red, white and green I have.

The finish was acceptable but nothing special.

Next time - don't rush!

Last nights shave was okay, but not great. I wanted to spend a bit more time concentrating on my technique and blade angle this evening.

I also had a visit to The Gentleman's Groom Room this afternoon and got myself some Trumpers Spanish Leather cream. I had a good time in the shop, with various scents being sprayed in the air and me walking through them. Out of the leather scents the Trumpers really stood out.

Preparing for this evenings shave had me really slowing things down. I spent time washing with the Nivea face wash, rinsing it off, then applying a good amount of Proraso pre shave cream.

Taking a small amount of cream in my lathering bowl and a wet brush had the scent filling the air. After 2 minutes or so the lather was pouring everywhere. A good few minutes applying it to my face had a good layer. The scent continued with the blade gliding smoothly. No complaints from my skin or the blade.

After my 1st pass I could feel a good amount of slickness still present. 2nd and 3rd passes were completely without incident. No weepers no nicks.

I really slowed the blade down making sure I was holding the angle. No pressure and very short strokes. I could feel the blade working that bit harder with a nice sound during each stroke. Towards the end of the 3rd pass the sound was a lot quieter and my skin so much more smoother.

Finishing up I could feel only a few pickups were needed. These were done in seconds followed by a nice cold rinse and splash with Thayers Cucumber. I could feel my skin cooling down. A touch of Bart's cinnamon balm and there was a very slight burn. I could almost feel my skin pulling the balm in.

The result - a really smooth finish. One of the smoothest for a while.

Tonight has shown me to occasionally take a step back and watch everything I'm doing very carefully. Lots learned and the results are worth it!

Have a great night folks.

Old Spice Aftershave

Firstly I would like to thank @TomG for kindly sending me this fantastic soap from Australia - free and gratis. You're a fine and kind gentleman, Sir.
Straight off I liked the soaps scent - spicy and a little sweet, very reminiscent of Old Spice. It's quite a soft soap and I found it very easy to load and face lather.
The scent was stayed strong throughout the shave and the lather provided slickness and glide in equal measure. Residual slickness is good too. Post shave feel is top notch - my skin felt hydrated and supple.
Would I buy a Squadron soap? - most definitely !
Finishing with Old Spice Aftershave.
Smelling good and suitably sheared

Prep: L'Oreal Men Expert Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap Face Wash
Pre: Proraso Sensitive Pre-shave
Brush: Unbranded Boar
Soap: Proraso Sensitive
Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: Gillette 7 O' Clock yellow (1)
Post: Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel
AS: Boots Freshwood

Another first for me this evening in the shape of the 7 O' Clock yellow blade. I expected it to be sharp so I put it in my mildest razor. It gave a nice smooth shave but I still managed to summon up enough carelessness to create a couple of weepers. [Note to self: Don't shave when tired.] Bit of irritation from the blade too. Cleared up quickly though.
Not the best of shaves but tidy enough for work in the morning.

Cheers

Steve
