Prep: Warm rinse with Bulldog Face Wash then Proraso Pre Shave cream Eucalyptus and Menthol
Cream: TOBS Lavender (sample)
Brush: Executive Shaving Medium Jock synthetic
Razor: Gillette Fatboy (pass around)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless (4)
Post: Cold rinse, Thayers Witch Hazel with Cucumber followed by Boots Freshwood aftershave then @BartsBalms Lavender balm (sample).

I'm really enjoying the Fatboy.

A 2 pass shave with pickups. A BBS result and I'm ready for work tomorrow morning.

The TOBS lavender cream is a joy to lather. I gave it lots more water tonight and it rewarded me with a lovely, creamy, slick and shiny lather. A good 3 minutes or so in the bowl and it was a foam fest. So little goes so far.

The start of my 1st WTG pass at setting 2 and I just felt the blade wasn't making much of an impact. I concentrated on my angle but it just didn't seem enough.

A quick change to setting 5 and we were off. Effortless and smooth.

2nd pass ATG and things were so much better. Final pickups on my neck and done.

A good splash of Thayers, some Boots Freshwood aftershave with a slight burn, then finishing off with the BartsBalm lavender. Class.

Have a good night folks! [emoji1360]

Sotd - yesterday - Saturday the 8th of September -

Razor - Cobra Classic
blade - Schick Proline (lost count)
brush - Semogue 2000 boar
soap - Kent tallow hard soap
post - witch hazel
a/s - Vitos Tabacco
balm - Barts Amber & Moroccan Jasmine
scent - Creed Tabarome parfum.

Result - great.

The proposition? Taking off without hurting myself - two full weeks growth. I looked like a goddam hippy - which I don't mind to be honest - but someone suggested it was a bit hipster - I'm not taking that -right - off to the den immediately. We'll return to hipsters later. Taking of this much growth is no time for innovation in the tools and software I thought - I've got some interesting vintage blades to try out courtesy of @TomG - but didn't think this was an appropriate first run out for them - there was only ever one razor for the job - behold - the Cobra. Possibly these blades are immortal - being not very organised - I pretty much have no idea how many times it has been used - 8 or 9 - might seem realistic - with no obvious drop off in performance. The razor took off a fortnight's growth as if it was two days. A warm snake through butter - no - that doesn't work does it? Let's move on. The supporting cast in the shave are all tried and tested products for me - they all do what they do very well indeed - in my opinion. What a mess in the basin though - had to drain the sink after the first pass - looked like someone had engaged in a foul sacrificial ritual to the Lord of the Flies with a badger - my beard these days - does a pretty good impersonation of silver tip when it grows in. Anyway - bbs in two passes - job done - enjoy your shaves one and all - cheers - I.

Oh - hipsters. I don't know what it is like in your barrio? - in mine - hipsters are breeding out of control - they have no natural predators - I have an idea about this problem and we could solve another at the same time. When the world sees sense and puts me in charge - fear not - it will be a benevolent dictatorship - wet shavers can look forward to many medals and stipends - which could be demonstrated as the most successful model of government invented by humans - over the broad sweep of history - democracy - I hear you cry - yes - invented by Solon - when his back was against the wall. So - work with me here - problem one - too many hipsters - problem two - in the UK - since the ban on fox hunting - there are packs of dogs not doing what they are bred to do. Let's legalise hunting hipsters? It might sound harsh - but - fair I think. We can keep the numbers down at least? To see them trying to run away from the hounds - in their too tight - skinny jeans - lace up leather shoes - with no socks - the wind drag from their beards slowing them down. Man bags flapping behind them - as they are hunted down. I heard ridiculously at the time of the fox ban - a pro hunt commentator saying - that the foxes enjoyed it - fair enough - so will the hipsters. Other policies I would favour - a mandatory jail sentence for anyone wearing sports clothing - that was not at that moment engaged in sport - using mobile phones on public transport - an aggravation to this would be holding the phone as if it was a communicator in Star Trek. Right - got that out my system.

Brought out the MWF as a precaution as I was trying a new blade; French made Nacets dating back to 1985. I needn't have bothered as it was a fantastic shave. 2 days worth dispatched with 2 passes to leave a DFS and dare I say it; better than current output. Slightly smoother, just as sharp and thicker, so no blade chatter. SOTD photo taken inside an aluminium casserole lid to provide a little abstract variety.
