The Little Wren Pottery Appreciation Thread

Received my Little Wren fancontroller-style bowl yesterday and it's great.

Shown below with a Vulfix 404 badger/boar brush for size comparison.

Victoria made it form me with the below features.
  • Sloped handle for easy grip and support in left hand.
  • Ridges in bowl sides for ease of lathering.
  • Slightly inward sloping top ridge to help keep lather from escaping bowl.
  • Fine ridges in base of bowl which allow me to press in soft soap scoops or hard soap shavings so that they stick to the bottom and not slide around the bowl when lathering up.
Used it this morning with a sample of Barrister & Mann, scooped out and pressed into the bottom. It worked a treat; the soap stayed put while a lathered up. With my other bowls I tend to get soap lumps dislodge from the bowl and stick inside the brush and hide.
I don't always use soft soap but it's a bonus when using this bowl.

I believe so Paul. I was looking for a potter to make me a bowl. I came across Victoria on Etsy and sent her an email asking if she could make one to my specifications. She happily agreed and quoted me £6.00. I snapped her hand off and when it arrived I was blown away by the quality so I very quickly shared pics and all the details to anyone on both forums who would listen. Frankly I'm a little sad more people didn't have one made as every one I have seen have been works of art and so much better than mass produced overpriced rubbish we usually see or indeed the various other bowls pressed into the role of shaving bowls. That is why I think a group buy is long overdue and I think it may work.

Is there a typo in there somewhere. I thought this was VERY cheap when I first read it. She has quoted me £14 plus £6.55 postage. Still very good. The problem is her kiln methods limit the colours she can produce to those 6 standard colours shown on the website none of which was what I really wanted.

Are those bowls custom made?
I checked her website and the shops and I cannot find any shaving bowls for sale at the moment. I really like the bowls that are presented here....

No typo in there the price written is the price I paid other bowls/designs probably vary. That said I may have been the first to order a custom made shaving bowl from Victoria so she may have charged me less as a one off.

I'm no horder I've served my apprentiship in wet shaving. I have given lots away in the past and been fortunate to receive some things too. People tend to get carried away giving stuff away when new to the community. These days I don't enter PIF's but I will PIF to selected members occasionally.
