Travelling with a Brush?

Hi all,

I was wondering how do you guys travel with a brush? I only have the one and am planning a shave the morning before I leave so it will still be wet...(its a synthetic though).

How do you guys store your brushes when taking them away with you?

Cheers

Hi, I have a Mùhle travel brush which is housed in its aluminium handle. If you leave your usual brush at home just leave it in the usual place you leave it everyday. Nothing awful will happen to it! These shaving forums do complicate shaving!

Ha! Sorry I must have mistyped my question - I meant how do you store it when travelling with you.

The Mùhle one is housed in its handle and I have never had a problem. It is a nice synthetic brush which dries quickly.

I take a inexpensive synthetic brush in a sandwich bag, I don't shave every day so it will usually be dry by the time I leave the hotel :).

I have an old badger travel brush that is stored in it's handle with a perforated lid. It seems pretty old but the brush is fine though the chrome is lifting off the tube. I also have a little badger brush in an old Bakelite container again with a perforated lid. If I remember I leave them out to dry when I get home...if I remember. Both brushes are still fine.

I originally used badger travel brushes from AOS and êShave, but the Balea Dark Fibre brush is only around €8.00.

If, as the OP said it is a synth he's planning to use before travelling a good flick and a quick going over with a towel will make it 90% dry so nothing to worry about plus when you are travelling with it it's plastic so it'll survive anything anyway.

I just grab whatever brush I happen to like using at the moment and stuff it down an empty toilet paper tube. The tube protects the hairs from being reshaped by the odds and ends in my dopp bag. I just make sure I take the brush out for a thorough drying when I'm done travelling. I leave the brush out on the counter for the duration of my stay.

Ironically, my actual "travel" brushes are too rare and valuable to be taken traveling. One being a Gillette Fold-A-Brush kit, and the other being a Rubberset similar to the one posted earlier, but from 1906.

Tis why I recently bought the Muhle synthetic from Sr Bowles. Travelling.

I don't get too fussed but simply place it in my wash bag and use when required. As pointed out synthetics dry so quickly having a damp brush is never really an issue. Certainly no problems in the past years of travelling this way and considering I have done nothing else but travel for the past 42 years (merchant seaman) I do tend to have a good idea of what works for me and what doesn't.

And getting fed up with it.
