Vintage soaps

I've tried a handful of vintage shaving soaps, and found most of them very good or outstanding, even though the scent of some has faded a bit. The ones I especially like are Yardley English Lavender, Old Spice and one called Corvette which I found in an unopened set, with some AS, in a junk shop. I was just wondering if any TSR members know anything about the latter (there is very little information about it on the internet). Also, are there any other particularly good UK-made vintage soaps to keep an eye out for?

I have Imperial Leather shaving soap stick and tub also Erasmic shave stick. As you said the scent is gone but performance is very good. Both Imperial Leather and Erasmic sticks come up quite often on e-bay, I hope you can find them and give a try.

One I'd forgotten about but would love to get hold of is the original formula Floris. It was one of the very few luxury items my father really appreciated; he got a puck given every Christmas and it just about lasted him the following year. I tried the new formula stuff a few years ago, but it was very poor.

Comes up on eBay now and again. Keep your eyes open for 'Soap Base' at the start of the ingredients instead of the usual chemical names
