What’s everyone’s process

Ideally I will have a bath or shower before hand, not for hydration purposes but just for convenience and makes me feel better doing it one after another, feeling clean etc.

Though if in a rush or if I will be struggling for time the next day I'll just splash my face. I really see no difference with showing and splashing the face, the shave is exactly the same.

One thing I do everytime is using cold water. It does seem to make a difference for me, I'm less prone to knicking the skin and it just feels more refreshing.

In terms on passes I just do whatever I feel like. Depends how my skin is feeling and the razor I am using.

- Feel like a shave to cheer me up and make me feel important
- Pour some hot water into the bathroom basin
- Realise I forgot to wet the brush first, so do that and go and make a coffee
- Come back and start lathering, which usually goes badly since I have hard water
- Attempt to shave with the available lather
- Feel good all the same if it's a really good Italian soap
- Vow to use up what I have and learn to lather better
- Go online and buy another Italian soap

Great thread....

1. How do I chose what to use?
I usually don't have the whole set up in mind until minutes before the shave. I usually have one item I know I'll be using based on it either being a new purchase or something gifted or on loan.

2. I arrange a number of items in an arty farty way and take a number of photos with my phone.

3. Preparation: I place everything out on the window sill and put the brush in a glass of warm water. Fit blade in razor.
I take a warm shower. I either use L'Oreal Charcoal face wash or once a week a face scrub.

4. The shave: Remove brush from the glass, squeeze the water out and flick the brush out twice to remove any excess water.
Place razor in the sink of warm water.
Load the brush from the tub of soap and bowl lather, with varying degrees of success.

Wet face with warm water and apply lather. Go WTG, rinse face and empty sink. Repeat for AXT and ATG. Rinse and feel for places I've missed. Re apply lather for touch ups.
Rinse face with warm and cold water. Pat face dry with towel.
(The tidy up and post shave) Rinse brush, flick out excess water and towel dry gentle.
Rinse and dry bowl. Disassemble razor and remove blade. Carefully pat dry blade. Rinse the razor and blow as much excess water out and pat dry with towel. Apply aftershave.
Clean sink and surrounding area.
Leave the lid off the tub of soap and place to one side, along with the brush.

5. SOTD post: Look through the photos and chose one. I tend to keep photo cropping and filters to a bear minimum.
Depending on what I've used or my mood I'll either write a list of gear I used or a small report on the shave and gear used.

Cheers
Rob
