What are you drinking tonight.

Scored a bottle of Pliny the Elder today :D

Actual conversation at the liquor store today:
Me: Do you have any Pliny?
Owner: Yes....[walk towards the back room]...one.
Me: Do you have two?
Owner: I wouldn't even let my hot girlfriend buy two. You can only buy one.
Me: Can I buy it and come back in and buy another one?
Owner: See you next week

So what's the Pliny Elder all about?
Made in Russian River it's one of highest rated IPAs ever made - it often scores 100/100 on review sites.
It's released in very small batches so that the consumer will have it at its freshest (this lot apparently came in yesterday).

Price: $7 for a 16.09oz bottle.
(But...then you can sell the empty bottle for $5 on eBay :) )

How good was it?
I'll tell you tomorrow (I made the mistake telling a friend about it and now she's coming over tonight).

I've visited the Russian river bar/brewery & literally have the T-shirt.
You are in for a treat, deeee-lish.

Hiya,

After having no alcohol for three months I broke my fast yesterday with a large bottle of Weihenstephaner 'Vitus' while getting together with Bob the Limey. Whew boy, that was some luscious beer, with an alcohol content of 7.7% that's undetectable taste wise.

Billy

What's doin Billy,

That brewery's been around for like 1000 years or so and many of their products get great reviews. They even do a take off on the Czech pilsner type that's quite good too. Ayinger is another good German company with tasty items.

Seems like a lot of the IPA offerings are loaded with hops and for me are way too bitter. Crazy money for many of those, with $10 a six pack being the average.

Yeah, gimme a nice Deutsch beer with decent alcohol content that's well disguised and not too hopped up. This Vitus brew is especially luscious and a few of the 500mm bottles does the trick for me.

Martin
