What are you drinking tonight.

Thanks for the advice; I'll give it a try. We, SWMBO and I, like our dry martinis really cold and to stay cold, so we've been putting small ice cubes into the glass; it's a compromise, but we've found we like the taste when they're cold better. One thought I've had is to use 'ice rocks', which are first frozen before use; this would prevent water 'contamination'. What's interesting is that this is the only drink I put ice in be it alcoholic or non-alcoholic, including water. Furthermore, I like my beer/ale closer to room temperature than ice cold; I guess the Americans drink their beer (?) ice cold because it's so tasteless and fizzy.

Apparently, if you're going to do it, one large ice cube is better than two small ones as it melts less slowly, slowing down dilution of the drink. Obviously tricky with a martini glass due to its shape but works well with a rocks glass and, say, a G&T.

Warsteiner (660ml x er..) - on a warm night this is a glorious thirst quenching Pilsner, smooth, dry and not too challenging.

If you prefer fruitcake in a glass this is not for you.
