What are you listening to?

Buddy Guy is something else. His searing tone, his attack, the licks, the man is just incredible. You can see why Clapton lauds him as the best guitar player alive today, and you can see where SRV drew his influence. JLH is no slouch mind.
The music will always be essential & anyone interested in music should acknowledge the Blues. You can't beat the good old twelve bar.

For me, tonights aural temptation is Sweet Home Chicago. We're looking to perform it at some point soon, so am getting the song under my skin. I do love the blues, and am using this version as inspiration. It's like the ultimate blues

I pick up one of my Strats and the blues comes naturally.

Nice one Nick, that track is on our last too

Listening to this from Susan Tedeschi before tonight's rehearsal:

For those interested here's a clip from the second rehearsal of a new band and helping set up (I'm on drums but the way)

Any other weekend warrior musicians out there in TSR land?

YES! I'm a huge fan of the Tedeschi and Trucks combo. You can't beat Derek for slide guitar, in my opinion. Have been into blues since before I took up guitar in comprehensive school, circa 12 years ago. Unfortunately, my baby is currently at my folks' house as I moved out about a year ago. I've been fortunate to see a number of players live despite not being on the planet a huge amount of time - BB King, Jools Holland and Eric Clapton (Tsunami relief appeal Cardiff), Joe Bonamassa, Albert Lee, Michael Messer and Ed Genis, Hugh Masekela (though a trumpeter, not guitarist) and Bob Geldof (though not with the Boomtown Rats)!

She's a Tele copy, lovely maple neck, vintage-style tuners and bridge. Lovely crisp sound. Has a couple of things I want to iron out - need to move the bridge fractionally and I'm thinking about a new set of tuners and a brass nut but that's something for down the line! :D There's a Welsh slate-esque Welsh dragon inlay in the linseed oil-finished body.

Keep on rockin' my good man!

Edit: excuse the mess in the photo - it was taken in my uni accommodation which I, in all honesty, treated a bit like a hotel! :D

Edit #2: I forgot to mention I used to play flute before guitar, thoroughly enjoyed it and need to have my flute serviced so I can take it back up! I'm like the opposite to Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)! :D
