In honour of England's resounding victory yesterday, I had a listen to this again. A cracking album (along with most other stuff Neil hannon does), always makes me smile. :)

A great deal of Motörhead, recently. In the car at the moment - Overkill, Bomber and Ace Of Spades albums. All noises from my early teens.

I just appear to in the mood for some loud, simple, Rock n Roll.

Charlie Byrd - Homage To Jobim: Live At Fujitsu

2214557_500x500.jpg

Recorded live in August of 1994 at the Fujitsu-Concord 26th Jazz Festival in Concord, CA, Homage to Jobim features guitarist Charlie Byrd performing the music of innovative Brazilian guitarist/composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. No stranger to the music of Jobim, Byrd was one of the first musicians to introduce North American audiences to the bossa nova. As such, fans of Byrd will be familiar with many of these songs as they became staples of his live performances. Nonetheless, as Byrd passed away only a few years after this concert, the album stands as a heartfelt tribute not only to the composer of the songs, but also to Byrd's life and devotion to the music he loved. Joining in the festivities here are such longtime Byrd collaborators as harmonica player Hendrik Meurkens, clarinetist Ken Peplowski, pianist Allen Farnham, bassist Bill Douglass, drummer Chuck Redd and percussionist Michael Spiro.
