What are you reading at the moment?

Just finished: Pedalling to Hawaii by Stevie Smith. About a human powered circumnavigation of the globe. I got this as in one of my previous books the author mentioned meeting Stevie and so I got this book. Stevie also mentions a few traveller authors in his book so a few more to check out. And his companion on the expedition also has written his version of the journey, in 3 books, only 2 of which are in print so far.

So, now onto: We bought a zoo by Benjamin Mee. True story that has recently been made into (quite a good) movie

A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. Black holes...relative speed of light...the universe being 4 dimensional! (At least I think that is what he is talking about). I bought the book on a whim basically....telling people that it's a book that I have been meaning to read for 20 years.

One of the least-read bestsellers ever, apparently. I certainly gave up on it. He may be a genius, but writing isn't really his thing...

The Scar by China Mieville

also Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse by David Mitchell (very enjoyable read which has made me question my view of the Royal Family among other things)

Just finished American Sniper by Chris Kyle (movie out this year too). OK read. Not one I will keep and read again though.

Just started Guy Martins Autobiography, signed by the man himself. My wife got me it for Christmas. Shes a keeper!

Classic Ambrose that one Jack, well researched and well written. I remember visiting Pegasus Bridge when I was a kid. As usual we visited the cemetery, where my dad found the grave of a lad he'd last seen in school (I think he was with the gliders but it's a long time ago now).

Just started it but can tell its going to be superb. Background info like the war in North Africa being fought in gentlemanly fashion....i.e ending at 5pm every day so the British could have tea and the Germans coffee.

Asterisk - The Future of Telephony,
Tried reading that many times.
Never got around to finishing it.

It's a good read. Of all the technical books I've gone through, that is one of the most fun. If you don't have a divert number, you can get one at flextel it's dead easy to setup. If you want any help feel free to private message me.

For fun, I setup a tarpit for the likes of displaced Princess Jibber Jabber in Nigeria who wants me to help her shift some money around. I'd give her the *REALLY* expensive number via flextel and tell her to chat to me. In reality on the end of that number I had a loop of me giving some rather non-committal responses like "oh, really?", "what else?", "oh, so, what did you find out today?" and many other things... all good fun and nice to listen to the call recordings.

Some of the best results were from UK marketers/spammers...
