What made your day a good one

[emoji50] 10am? Please tell me you were at the airport. The only place where it's acceptable to drink whatever time of day it is lol

I have NO excuse - local pub down by the water. Can I blame the sun?:)

After a fairly, shall we say, `interesting` cluster of weeks, some of which was good and some of which was down right horrid, watching our daughter graduate on Friday and then realising today that I've got an entire week with nothing intense in my calendar (throughout the prior duration, my record for nothing intense was, I think, one day).

Woot! says a very proud and somewhat more relaxed dad.

My 9 month old daughter added a third word to her vocabulary, along with ‘Mum-mum' and ‘Yeah' she started saying ‘woof' – she loves dogs or anything to do with dogs. Friday night everything was ‘woof' – she loves her new word and says it as much as possible.

This was great – apart from my wife and I were supporting a colleague by participating in the Bournemouth Pride march on Saturday, and my daughters ‘woof' word sounds a lot like another word. There we were walking along surrounded by 'fabulous' colourful people and my 9 month old daughter was smiling and waving at everyone saying ‘poof, poof, poof'

One of the drag queens came over and said, ‘you've got that right girl' and gave her a kiss. She got a lot of attention even though she was inadvertantly insulting everyone.

It was a fun day out with some amazing people. Walking alongside Miss Dorset was a highlight (for me - not my wife)

Put a 110db horn on my bike. Can't wait to scare the bejeezus out of those pedestrians who walk out without looking.

The bulldog got affectionate last night, jumped up, head butted me, broke a front tooth ( mine, not hers ) and knocked a filling out. 'Phoned the dentist this morning, told to come straight in and wait, lovely wee asian lady I see every 6 months worked through her tea break to rebuild and bond the tooth. If needed she'll metal pin it in the future. No injection, mouth sore but not numb. Result !

I'm smiling in a very big way reading that, for a whole bunch of reasons...

Another (see graduation a few posts back) very proud moment of my life was when my daughter asked me to accompany her to Reading Pride at the age of 15... Thought she just wanted to watch / support but nope, she wanted to join the parade (with me). Putting aside an irrational mild sense of awkwardness, I joined and we walked between a group of perfectly sculptured young me playing drums and a quartet of drag queens on stilts. I have to say that it was the most uplifting and positive march I've ever been part of.

Incidentally, the highlight of that day turned out to be being unable to tick a gender / orientation box demographic questionnaire at the Reading Labour LGBT stand having written a letter to my MP regarding marriage equality and realising, in the words of Mark Thomas, "I could have some fun with this". But that's another story.

My family bought me a lifetime birthday/Christmas flight in a Spitfire TR9 from the Boultbee Flight Academy at Goodwood aerodrome yesterday. Reassuringly (embarrassingly) expensive, we'll be reduced to bread and water for the next five years. The shortest 20 minutes of my life but what a fabulous experience.

I know I'm spoilt and totally humbled by their gift but nothing will wipe that Spitfire smile off my face!

Regards,
Chris

Wow Chris, just wow.
I'm going to guess and say that at least 90% of those who read this have just turned green with envy.

My day? Oh, mildly similar... Sally B flew low over my house four (more times) slow and low during the ferry flight to Farnborough.

Wot Tom said ........ That's feckin' amazing, Chris. The only thing cooler than that would be flying a real live dragon! ..... And we all know that's never going to happen ......

Dragons are real pr*cks about being flown ...... tetchy b'stards, the lot of them ...... and they always rip you off on price ........ Best avoided ....

Tom,
Thanks, I've continued our PM conversation. I was going to write yesterday but the head's still flying. I don't know what will top that. Sally B's a very moving sight and sound, especially low and slow.

Wishbone,
Agreed, a dragon would be the ultimate. The Academy provides a range of warbird experiences, including a Mustang flight, but I'd need several lifetimes to afford them.

Now, I want a Spitfire, where can I get one?

Regards,
Chris
