Got an old straight razor with a blade that is really loose at the pivot, so was thinking maybe give repinning a try but where do I buy pins and washers? or is it possible to use something hex or torx maybe more suitable for the not so handy handyman?

EBay is Full of Them..A Loose Pin Can Sometimes be Tightened by a Few Taps with a Small Hammer..o_O

These Eyelets are Often Used as Well..A Couple of Mine have been Done with these but You Still Need a Pin..These are All Over the Place as Well & these are the Correct Size I Have Been Informed..:D

Never Heard of Google Search..????..

Figures, I think mine is a budget razor, sold by a Swedish mail order company way back then, anyway I will start with a few taps and see what happens.

Paid a fiver :) the idea was dulling the edge using it for left hand shaving practice, then sharpen and hone practice with lapping film, finally some pinning practice, if anything left of the razor after that: time for a proper shave.

Got hammer and ...
so far so good, managed to get the old pin out, it was bent, I guess that explains why the blade moved in such a strange way sometimes really loose sometimes stuck, time for Ebay and new pin: nickel silver and small washers: also nickel silver and larger washers: maybe brass.

This is the sort of stuff I use. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0BA-2BA-3...hash=item4d364a0008:m:mTJXEi3Q3fJUhzk0r9W9qZQ

That hammer you have is way oversized for pinning. At least half or a quarter of the size will be ok.

Tip: When pinning, very light, small taps. Raise the hammer around a inch above the pin when striking and keep moving in small circular movements.

Don't cut the pin too long or you will have to bend it before it tightens ;)

Good luck.

I believe Windrose sell them via their Ebay store. He is away on holiday for a week or two though. Look up Windrose Handles on ebay. He has suspended his store though until he returns. So give it a bit.
