Discussion in 'After Shave / Cologne' started by Shemen Zait, Sunday March 11, 2018.

  1. For me an aftershave splash is all about skin care and hygiene first. Scent second.
These are my top five, what's yours?

    1. Proraso Sandalwood
    2. Speick
    3. Nivea 2 phase
    4. Swiss Pitralon
    5.Pinaud Clubman

Benjamin's Bay Rum seems to suit my skin better than any other product I have used.

For me there is a plateau occupied by SV, its just so healing/soothing/invigorating. After that there are two very good German splashes, Speick & Tüff which I've found to suit me very well, after that I lump everything else together.

    1.
    Saponificio Varesino
    ---------------------------
    2. Speick
    3. Tüff
    ---------------------------
    Everything else....

I found Extro splashes to be great in terms of skin feel. I also quite like Fine splashes, though they offer literally no nourishment, and Floïd tend to work well on my skin.

No scent, only performance, these are my top 5:
    1. Fine Accoutrements
    2. Clubman Pinaud
    3. Reuzel Aftershave

That's it. Nothing leaves my skin silky smooth like those.

I've been meaning to pick up a bottle of Ben's Menthol Bay Rum before summer (a season I can barely remember). There were a few of Afro-Caribbean hair extension/beauty products in my local town that used to sell it but they all seem to be out of stock of it now. Hopefully they will get it back in stock soon!

    Shave Lounge.

They're sold as lotions (splashes) which they are, but quite thick... More of a balm/splash hybrid admittedly.

  13. It'll be well worth the effort to seek out a bottle, i use it for every season in the year..a under-estimated skin care wonder.;)

According to SV Stella Alpina is "designed to reproduce the alpine environment, where edelweiss grows." Scent pyramid is:

    Lemon, Bergamot, Basil
    Cistus, Myrtle, Eucalyptus
    Cypress, Amber

All I can say is it smells fresh, clean and very pleasant.

Artic Tundra, in SV's words: "designed to recall the atmosphere of the Arctic Tundra, we chose the scent of Agar Wood (oud) but harmonized to give the sensation of open and fresh spaces, with a markedly woody perception." Scent pyramid is:

    Oud, Cedar, Tangerine
    Cashmeran, Damascena Rose, Patchouly
    Amber, Sandalwood, Leather

I get oud, rose and amber mostly, its a Cologne quality scent definitely.
