I've seen Alum Block ranging from about £2 to £10, apart from price and weight is there any difference between the different ones available?

the more expensive ones are probably smoother out of the box.The 79p Asian supermarket ones can be rough at first but soon smooth over.

No, chemically they're all aluminium potassium sulfate. May be natural (mineral) or synthetic, rough or smooth, but from a user's point of view, there's no (relevant, lasting) difference.

I envy you having easy access to such shops, and I love Asian cooking too!

I guess they have them in Bristol which is about 17 miles away so by the time I've driven and parked I'd be better off ordering online.
