Arrived here after an Epiphany in Sainsburys!

Haha, I lost 10 mins admiring the razor! It's a thing of beauty.
So, after my shower, I opted to face lather. I soaked my brush for a few minutes, shook it dry and applied the cream directly to it. The TOBS was lovely and rich, although I'm not sure I'd select the sandlewood again. I also found the brush a bit soft for my liking.
Anyway, as to the shave itself. I took to it like a natural! (obviously spending plenty of time watching geofatboy and mantic59 paid off). I had a first pass WTG, then a second WTG followed by a final XTG pass. I could've carried on, but forced myself to stop. Not a single nick, weeper or laceration of any description!
The result? A close, comfortable and most importantly, enjoyable shave. If truth be told, it's probably not quite as close as my fusion, but I don't doubt for a second that will change with a bit of time and experience. I'm definately converted!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Closeness will come with practice; just concentrate on comfortable, consistent shaves for now.
