Hi guys,

Still not sure if this is an April fools prank, but Rob over at the Gentleman's Shop is sticking by the story on his blog:

Looks like Art of Shaving are pulling out of the UK market. Great. So where and how am I supposed to stock up on the Ingrown Hair night treatment cream? That stuff is superb and the only thing that ever worked for me and my face.

So annoyed at this! Well done P&G for messing up another fine brand!

Shame, I suspect that without a high street presence their overpriced gear is a hard sell even though I like a lot of their stuff.

If you do need a stock of ingrown cream I humbly suggest something about your routine is not right, anyway try using crushed asprin paste, it certainly works for a stubborn pimple.

Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely one to look out for. Yes, I guess I could try that. After all salicylic acid is aspirin.

I have very thick/coarse beard, which is not helped by dry skin and curly hair. So often it's a matter of exfoliating with a good face scrub the night before I shave, as well as face washing and applying nightly ingrown hair cream and moisturiser.

That's an awful lot of procedures, and you'e a straight user I see?

Your hair type doesn't help but ingrown's are usually a consequence of shaving too closely, have you tried not shaving against the grain or going for BBS.

Thats good, it's one less to Compare prices with

Been shaving with straights now for almost 6 years. I shave three times a week to avoid getting them and allowing the skin to rest in between. I always go WTG. Going ATG is just not an option for me. I can't use aftershaves either, only balms. Usually I can get very smooth and more or less BBS with just one or two WTG passes, if my blade is sharp and my prep is good.

It's worth saying that my beard growth doesn't really follow a pattern - it's all over the place, probably due to the curly hair.

Sounds like you've been through the mill, did you ever bother with a D.E razor?

Yes and I haven't touched one in 6 years. Get much better shaves with a straight, no irritation, quite smooth and the least ingrowns than with any other method.

Surely it's not that much of a chore to find a seller in the US that will ship it anyway... even if you have to come to a personal arrangement with a fellow forum member.

This is true. It may even end up being cheaper... :D

The cheapest AoS products I found were on ebay from UK sellers, realistically I'm not going to continually spend £30 - £40 on a balm so if they withdraw completely so I suspect will this channel.

It might be worth a look here CLICKY for an alternative product ?

Tried so many of them.... Tend Skin, PFB Vanish and so on. AoS just "seemed to work". Oh well, like the other guys said, there's always Amazon or I could just stop using it for now and see how it goes...
